I'll be honest, I think that Rooney has been better for England than he has for Manchester United for over a year. Take the Brazil game as an example. Rooney had a terrible night, and suddenly scored a worldy. He always seems to have the ability to do something for England whereas for Manchester United he doesn't seem to click.

If he can't play this weekend for united they weren't gonna let him play for England were they, he probably had concussion as well so wouldn't be able to train let alone play

Playing with a fresh cut is much easier than playing with one a few days old and the skin in the forehead is pretty tight and any header would have more than likely ripped the stitches apart..

it would have sent a great message if he had travelled with the team even if he wasn't fit enough to play (unless he was under medical orders not to fly/travel).

Apparently the gash was so deep you could see his scull. However his brain was nowhere to be seen.

It's a football match, not the feckin' Normandy landing.

It's a small gash on the head, not a feckin' skull fracture

Did you see the picture? It was far from 'a small gash'. Perhaps he's not as manly as you are.
