WAS a credit to the sport. As someone who used to play alot of snooker I have lost all respect for John Higgins who IMO was very lucky to be completely exonerated after being caught red handed. His excuse of being scared was laughable! As for o'sullivan...the guy is a genius and has took snooker to new levels and audiences

"At least reward a magical break with a magical bonus"
"Four grand ? At least make it 25 grand so I can go on holiday"

If a footballer had said anything like that, he'd have been SLAUGHTERED.

He is a genius no doubt but his contempt for the sport that pays him so well isn't in keeping with the spirit of snooker (whatever that is). Funny game snooker, I remember playing in a local league in Sussex many years ago and the old blokes would cheat like bastards but we young 'uns were not supposed to complain, I can understand Ronnie's attitude.

4k after tax etc he will be clearing less than 2k for it.

Now thats still a lot of money to your man in the street, however for the acheivement of a 147 it does not in anyway represent the feet.

Whats the point of getting 100k for it at the World Championships or whatever they get and then nothing at other events... the money should be spread more evenly for these things so it is always worth going for.

The man has career earnings of £4m from POKING SOME BALLS WITH A STICK INTO HOLES ON A TABLE. How he can have the gall to complain about any level of prize money is beyond me.

Nothing for a 147...what prize money....take 10k of the winners cheque and give it to a 147 prize.

Easy

Whilst I'm no great lover of snooker, you could break any sport, or for that matter any profession, down to simplify it like that.

To be the best in the world at something, takes some doing and should be rewarded - ok, not all the world plays snooker, but it's better than the yanks having a World Series for a game that virtually nobody else plays.

I was thinking exactly that. Think of the shit that we've dished out to Ashley Cole, John Terry et al for their disregard for money and exhorbitant demands. But it's alright for Ronnie O'Sullivan to say that £4k isn't worth the effort because he's a bit good at snooker?

He IS a genius on the table, and I did have a chuckle about this incident when I heard about it.

But when I saw the interview with him later on, with his " 4 grand ? make it 25 grand, at least I can go on holiday then" remark, I thought he was talking like a bit of a (unt to be honest.

Yes yes maverick, entertaining, blah blah. But it shows a special kind of detachment to thumb your nose at £4,000 just to make some kind of a point. In the end he was persuaded by the match referee to sink the final black "for my fans". Thanks Ron, very BIG of you I'm sure.

After reading some of the comments that he's so called said I agree he sounds a bit of a (unt. It didn't show any of that on the highlights show last night. Most ronnie fans would laugh about him not wanting to pot the black....the guys got that something about him that others haven't and that's what makes watching him so interesting. Aren't we all talking about it now when most of you couldn't care less about snooker??

And no I obviously haven't seen all the footage but I would think if he was that scared, knowing it could potentially ruin his career the the easiest thing to do would be to approach the governing body and make them aware of what had happened. If he was genuinely scared im sure they could have dealt with it internally and we would be none the wiser nevermind the so called russian gangsters involved. Instead he chose to take the money and stay quiet. IMO
