Rohan Ince

Its all there but not a top championship package yet. Sometimes poor decision making and doesn't look like he's learning to boss the space he's working in. But in theory it's all there, over to you Rohan.

I thought he was superb in a midfield 3 where he played protecting the back four. On occasions he bossed the midfield completely, big tackles, covers a lot of ground etc. His passing is okay, nothing special, but overall he was very exciting and has a similar gait and poise to a young Viera.

That all said, in a midfield 2 in a 442, he has lacked a bit of dynamism when he has played. We've been blessed with the form of Kayal and Stephens, which highlighted a bit lacking in Ince's game when he came in, and his confidence nose dived because of it I think.

Still think there is a quality Championship midfielder in there, but does need a favourable system and a run of games to build up his confidence. Look forward to him coming back a better player after a spell with you!

Pretty much sums him up for me too - he's low on confidence and match fitness as not had much of a look-in this season. Last season he was one of our better players (admittedly in a pisspoor team/formation). If he gets a run of games, you'll see he's a decent player and at his best easily championship standard. Very good ball winner/tackler and strong.

He is ok as a cdm to break up play but doesnt use his height or strength to the full. Not top Championship quality will be ok midtable.

He done alright the year Oscar got us to the play off's As with JFC he's a good player but just doesn't suit our 442 system.

We've got him on loan. Is he any good? I was talking to some other Brighton-based Fulham fans last night and the consensus was he is but doesn't fit in with Hughton's formation which is why he's not played much recently.

He's got fantastic ability he just lacks a bit of confidence at times, Once he gets that on a regular basis he will be good enough for the Premier League.

Loses the ball too often, but usually wins it back with a great tackle.
Defensive Midfield is his role.
For a big man in professional football it is strange how he has never learnt to head the ball though.

What i was going to write. Not a great passer and lacks composure but if you're a midfielder running through the oppo midfield Rohan is the last man you'd want on your tail.

There is definitely a good player in there waiting to get out. I think this signing will benefit both parties, hopefully you will give him a run in the side and help rebuild his confidence, and he in turn should stop you getting overrun in the midfield and help out your leaky defence. it's ridiculous that you are so low with that goals scored tally.

I think Ronan has the ability to become a premier regular, he looked like he was going to be a multi million pound player when he burst on to the scene. Since then he has gone a little backwards, remember some of his runs into opposition territory, if he is confident and allowed to play his natural game he could be a gem of a player.

You will love him. In the right set-up with the right coaching and a manager who has faith in him, he will be a great asset.

Was very sorry to see him shoved out as he has tremendous potential.

Looking at him, people often compare him to Patrick Viera or Yaya Toure. Think he is more like Calton Palmer who was good enough to play for England not that long ago!

I'm going to disagree with a few people and say the mistake that's been made with Ince is that he's been pigeon-holed as a defensive holding midfielder, when that's not his best position. He isn't particularly great at sitting in front of the back four & breaking up play from deep - Bridcutt was quality at that. Ince was at his best during Oscar's season when he was given licence to CHUNK his way through midfield - basically he was told to use his size to dominate the middle of the park. Hyppia started his decline (like he did with every player we had), and unfortunately Hughton believes he plays in the holding role.

The American owner of Fulham has employed an American money ball statistical analyst as head of recruitment. He probably looked at Ince and thought he would make a good tight end for The Cowboys.

I have post traumatic stress disorder from witnessing the tackles against Norwich and Arsenal. Perfectly legit and very thorough. In the couple of games I went to at the end of last season I thought he was one of our best players, you certainly wouldn't want to have him on you Case (pun intended) for 90 minutes.

As others have said, we have very rarely played a defensive midfielder this season which has become his specialist role. Leave him doing that and he'll provide your back 4 with outstanding cover. You should then hopefully stop leaking so many goals.

Tip 1. Widen the Craven Cottage pitch to allow for stray passes.
Tip 2. Replace the centre circle with a train turntable to allow for Rohan to pivot on the spot rather than his usual turning circle of a cruise liner.
Tip 3. Accept he's one of those FOOT-BALL-ers who isn't very good with the BALL at his FOOT.
Tip 4. Just keep saying "he's so tall and powerful" and "he's still young" to cover the other major issues in his game. Let's call it the Micah Richards syndrome.
Tip 5. Then get criticised by fellow fans for daring to actually see that he isn't very good, and not sticking to the "he has potential" and "he will improve" when, at 23, he really should be able to control a ball and pass it 99% of the time.

But hey, he's made 2 good tackles in games we lost so all is good.

I've been saying exactly this to anyone who would listen. The 3 things he lacks are probably the 3 most vital attributes for a DM. He could be VERY good used as the next midfielder forward in a 3, a workhorse to break up play and then give it 5 yards to the DM or AM.
