I hope you never have a serious illness or injury at work.
I also hope your boss stands by you until you are fit again to work.

No irony or sarcasm but genuine thoughts saafend.

Why? So you are happy that one of our highest earners has barely featured all season? He is costing the club money.

So blame whoever gave him a contract if you feel an irresistable urge to turn on someone. How is he supposed to legislate for one of our one players falling on his leg?

Tell you what though, Kuipers is such a waste of space - fancy dislocating your shoulder! What a retard!

Yeah because Kuipers has always been injured for his whole career! But i do agree that it isn't Roberts fault he is always unfit.

I thought roberts has had an injury plagued career?

if he is not likely to be fit, we should not offer a further contract of employment, until he can prove that he is fit enough to do the job he is paid for.

Which is exactly what McGhee has said, Roberts has to prove he is worth a contract next season. No-one could have forseen that 1 year into his contract he would have a long term injury, at least its not the Kitson situation where he came in crocked and we failed to pick that up in a medical. The fact he got injured today has nothing to do with his previous injury, it was a freak accident that could happen to anyone.

Sadly I think that we won't be seeing Ben Roberts after this season (unless he signs a pay as you play contact)..

When fit, he is a top keeper but the poor guy has been plagued with injuries for sometime now - and not just with us!

Poor old Ben what rotten luck.

Get back soon mate

As long as it's not the back again, no need for anyone to jump to conclusions about him being finished with us - let's await the news on this leg injury.

Hope that Ben can make a full recovery. Personally I still prefer the FDM as No.1, but Roberts has in the main been very good for us when he has played.

Don't the club have some sort of insurance against long term injuries, or is that only for career ending incidents?

Very sad for Ben and for the club as we need a decent goalkeeper, just when it seemed that he was coming back this happens.

I can't believe some people have the nerve to criticise him!

If it was a choice between Roberts and yelldell we would all choose Roberts, hopefully, so lets hope he gets fit cause we need a decent keeper and soon!

Sensible words LI.

I heard that they thought they had got the the route cause of his back problem and hoped it was sorted.

Let's weigh up the facts here.

1. He's suffered from back/hamstring injuries for years, and these now apprear to have been correctly diagnosed and hopefully, a solution found.

2. He injured a knee in the reserves game earlier this season. Shit happens.

3. He's had another injury caused by one ouf our players. OK, a bit more shit, but hopefully not career threatening.

I think he is a top drawer keeper. If McGhee puts hime on a short-term contract for three months at the start of next season, that would be OK for me. Loyalty works both ways.

I beleive that our over-achievement over the last few seasons is linked to the manner in which the club is run. I can't think of any player who's left and slagged us off. The team-spirit will be fostered by everyone in the club, and this involves sticking by players when things aren't going well.

Good luck Ben. Hope you do a Guy and prove the doubters wrong.

Agreed Stinky but given the choice between Yelldell, Roberts and ANO most would choose ANO!!

Time to prise Shaka from the doldrums at Pompey and ensure saftey of the Championship before it is too late.

Good post.

People thought Michael Bridges was never going to play again, but he's finally back playing and appears to be fit.

In all fairness over the last 3 seasons, Kuipers injury record is pretty horrific. He ripped his thigh to pieces at the Cup game at Norwich in January 03 and missed the rest of the season. Last season he had the car accident and then some knee problems and missed about 3 months. This season he screwed his shoulder in January 05 and will miss the rest of the season.

So pretty much a similar injury record to Coco, does that make the FDM a waste of space under your criteria?

both kuipers and roberts are class acts...its is just sods law that they are both out.....i love to see roberts back between the sticks now that kuipers is out but thats football...i think if roberts is fit b4 the end of the season and is playing well give him a 3 montly contact for next season if that goes well renew it for the rest of the season...
