I suppose backward point would have been better :shootself

Hang on Ritchie just called it squareish point.
If it's good enough for GOD it's good enough for me.

In answer to your question smart-arse, no of course I haven't seen him play week in week out.

However I've seen him play near enough every innings for England and he hasn't looked good enough to step up from good county form to the international stage (Chris Adams, anyone?)

Just a matter of opinions, turning to football, some people on NSC think Nathan Jones is a good player, I happen to think he is shit.....same goes for Robert Key, I just dont think he is international class (hope he proves me wrong, would love to see a strong England cricket team)

The point I was making was that we as occasional watchers of certain players cannot judge them as well as their peers can. Just because he's fat & ugly and hasn't had the best start in test cricket, doesn't mean that he can't be a good international player.

One thing we should learn from other nations is to persist with those than can do it, and when they can no longer do it, then drop them. We seem to di it the other way round.

I'm afraid the Oz God is losing the plot then. If you are square of the wicket (90 degrees in line with the batsman) you are at point, full stop. If you are slightly behind you are backward point and in front you are cover point.

Most Saturdays i field at point and have the bruises from middled square cuts to prove it:eek:

Why was Kirtley on the England balcony yesterday?

Or were my eyes decieving me and he wasn't there?

why? has he really gone down hill so much?

I guess he has just dropped so far down the peckying order. The prefered 4 pace bowlers seem to be Harmison, Jones, Hoggard and Flintoff. Then they generally go with Anderson and Saggars.

In the one day team players like Mamood (sp) were getting into the side in front of him, also that bloke from Hampshire, Mashara (whatever), will be the next one for England to cap once in the one day side.
