From the BBC Website:

Crawley Town have completed the signing of former Welsh international winger John Robinson until the end of the season, reports BBC SCR.

The 33-year-old retired from the full time game in September after a spell at with Gillingham, having also played for Brighton, Charlton and Cardiff.

"I knew I'd end up playing non-league and would like to get into management when I stop playing," he said.

"I have always lived in Sussex so Crawley were the obvious club to join."

On the very biased B.B.C. local news, he was described as the ex Charlton and Gillingham player.

Who was that player who retired through injury, went non-league, they got promoted into the league proper but he couldn't play for them or he'd've had to pay back his insurance, or something?

I believe it was Mike Marsh (ex Liverpool?) but it was due to the fact that he had received an insurance payout, whereas Robinson simply retired.
