A true football great. Well, not great perhaps but by all accounts a very good player (62 goals in 61 appearances for Wednesday) until he had to have his leg amputated.

Shamefully sacked as manager on Christmas Eve after many years' service ("I'd have stood on my one leg as a corner flag if they'd asked me to"), he amazingly went across the city to United and worked for them for many years.

Totally respected by both sets of Sheffield fans, he'll be much missed.

A remarkable life and seems he just got over his personal tragedy.

Sure he'll get a good send off.

I remember his story well. It was a muddy pitch, and he broke his leg during the game. By the time he was on his way to the hospital, gangrene had set in, and that was it.
