Everton have cooled their interest in teenage Albion goalkeeper Richard Martin - for the time being at least.
Neil Sillett, Martin's agent, told the Non-League Paper: 'Richard trained with Everton for two days this month. They really like him as a goalkeeper and as a lad, but they've probably got other irons in the fire which need to be sorted out in the January transfer window. There's a possibility of something happening in the future, but not this season.'
Ryman League club Kingstonian have signed the keeper on loan for a third month, keeping him at Kingsmeadow until at least February 18. Ks manager Ian McDonald hopes Albion will allow Martin to stay for the rest of the season, when Everton may finally move in for the 18-year-old prospect.
Martin progressed through Albion's Centre of Excellence and signed a three-year professional contract at the age of only 17 in 2004. He has yet to make his first-team debut for Albion in a competitive match but played in pre-season friendlies and started the season on the bench in the Coca-Cola Championship.
Martin was born in Chelmsford, Essex, but his family moved to Liverpool in 1988 and he lived in the city from the age of one to 10, growing up as a Liverpool fan. He trialled with the Reds two years ago but Toffees scouts have watched him in Albion youth matches and at Kingstonian.
