Ricardo Fuller signing for....

Charlton! Just been paraded there at half time!

He would have been an excellent signing for us... shame.

Charlton looking good now for this season, they might be the dark horses this year.

We signed Fuller precisely BECAUSE we are skint. Baldock agreed to join us over a month ago (fee agreed with WHU, terms agreed with him) but they wanted a fee of £1-1.5m. We couldn't raise it. Fuller was a free. We signed Fuller for free on PAYP wages, told WHU we were out for Baldock and they shifted him to BCity (who are as skint as us, but are still owed re Maynard, which the Baldock fee was offset against) the same day.

Trust me, Charlton are skint. Our net spend this summer is circa 200k. Not exactly what a club stepping up to Championship from L1 should be doing. We are faring OK at present, but beyond our first choice eleven (same as last year's L1 team) we are thin. I will be happy with 16th place.

Re Ricardo Fuller: We are the club who brought him to the UK from Tivoli Gardens FC in Jamaica, he got injured in his trial, we paid him a wage for six months as our physios fixed him up, and had a gentleman's agreement that he would sign for us when he was mended, then the moment he was the twat signed for Palace. Seriously (Google it). He owes us one. Maybe he's twigged that hence signing for us.

Would have a million times preferred Baldock, but we don't have a pot to piss in and Fuller's better than nothing (the player, that is, not London Pride - I'd rather have nothing)
:(

Having said that, the fact you think Fuller (a free transfer on PAYP wages similar to those of a bloke called Paul Hayes who we sold to Brentford the same day) is a signing of note suggests just how bad things are or at least must seem striker-wise at the Amex. Trust me, you can and will do far better than Fuller, I doubt he's ever remotely been on Gus' radar (he certainly wasn't on our manager's until our backer walked and with it any chance of getting Baldock or anyone for a fee). I'm pretty sure you'll get someone fancy and Latin in sooner rather than later.

Well who was expecting that response?

Great post, I guess time will tell on this one.

Fat Addicks assertions are all correct. However he would probably agreee with me when I say that we are allegedly skint. No-one at the Club has said we are, there has been Board room shuffles and departures and little activity in the Market but never any statementboutoney. Charlton life, our NSC if you will, has got itself into a right state over it.
My view is this, we signed 26 players last season, young hungry playerss who won the 1st at a canter. They were signed with the Championship in mind, we now hae a number of striker options. Let's just see what happens. I'm not disagreeing with FGat Addick just offering my perspective.

Brilliant post. People on here seem to think that if a striker, who they have previously heard of, has moved SOMEWHERE then that means we 'missed out' on them.

Fuller scored 0 goals last season, was injured for about 6 months and then came back and got a red card which Pulis described as 'idiotic'.

He may be good for Charlton, but i would be certain that we never even looked at him.
