Maybe once I've set foot inside the new ground in 2008 I'll be able to go there, but to honest it's not just that I don't want to, but that I don't need to. I mean why the hell would I want to go to toys r us or DFS anyway.

Last time I went along that piece of Old Shoreham Road the Goldstone was still there, as far as I'm concerned it still is.

An easy thing to say when you've never had to attend a game at your stadium knowing you'll never go again. When somewhere that's been a part of who you are, a regular feature of your childhood and features in many of your strongest memories is taken from you, then maybe you'll understand.

I've only ever had to go past the place once - I avoid it if possible. I'll certainly never set foot in any of the shops there as long as I live.

I won't even go past the place. We went to DFS to look at sofas the other day and had to go to Croydon as I couldn't bear to go to the Goldstone retail park.

It comes to something when Croydon is the better place to visit.

When we went to Cardiff on the Seagulls Special, we parked at Hove Park.
We stood for a minute's silence looking at the area.
It felt right.

I ventured onto the site once earlier this year against my own will whilst learning to drive. We needed a car park to practise reversing into a space and we were nearby - my instructor even bought me a revolting-tasting dogpiss coffee from the chav-haunted Burger King there (it was good to see that a long tradition of poor-quality catering is still being upheld on that site).

My parking was appalling, I was very distracted - I knew that we were right where the old NE corner bit for away fans used to be - and all I can say in my defence was that I spent the whole time talking about how we were on sacred ground, that this was where the North Stand had been and that I couldn't spend any money in these places myself.

There, I've said it. Never again. Please don't hate me.

Oh dear! 'Bad fan' alert.......

I've been there more times than I can count. We've just ordered our new 3-piece suite from DFS, I bought a new TV and DVD from Comet (and a new washing machine a few years ago), we get loads of sports stuff from JJB and Mrs Brovian goes to Toys 'R' Us so often she's got some sort of loyalty bonus. Plus we often park in the car park, take the dogs over to Hove Park and then have something to eat in the Burger King. Oh, and the whole complex is always PACKED.

I do feel the odd twinge of nostalgia, but to put it into perspective I get a bigger one when I drive along the Steyning bypass and know I'm driving over the Shoreham to Horsham railway and the site of the old Steyning station.
