Well, elderly members of NSC, how are we?

The fall out from Ukraine, Trump and Gaza are still impacting the pension pots, but less so.

I've been travelling over he last couple of months, Agadir, then a trip to Antalya and a lads golf trip to Spain, 19-63 and 16 of us.

Starting to look at a small town house / apartment in South of Spain, not in a resort and reasonably close to golf clubs.

The fallout is just another blip, shouldn’t impact pensions much given the invest time horizon. Much of the dip has already been recovered anyway……

Just been to Portugal on our annual (now old) gentleman’s golf/pissup, and off to South America with junior next next week for a couple of weeks to tick off another thing on the bucket list (Galapagos Islands). Bruges in July, Cyprus in September and now looking at booking stuff for Christmas and then the US next spring and a safari in the summer. Keeps me busy when not on one of my 3 days a week fishing. 🙂

Are you intending to get Spanish residence or planning to buy before the 100% tax on non-resident property purchases is introduced?

Turns out that the largest proportion of my actively managed portfolio is invested in US companies and has underperformed the FTSE 100 for the last few years. So as I'm nearing retirement (hopefully) I'm planning to move a fair proportion into FTSE tracker funds. Any recommendations, NSCers?
Also, what's the view on savings drawdown v annuity?

How ??! The Dow has outperformed the FTSE virtually every year for the last 20 years or so, and the NASDAQ even more so.

It’s usually 35 but can be more if you were contracted out. The HMRC pension checker tool is very useful

A reminder to check this. Myself and a few colleagues checked ours recently and found that we all had a “not fully paid” section for one tax year. Seems like a cock up from our payroll and can be sorted by sending the P60s to HMRC.

What is annoying is that for most things HMRC you have to use the Goverment Gateway online but to try and get this resolved you have to print and copy documents and then post them to the HMRC.

At the time of writing, pension pot and investment portfolio have recovered well, but who knows what comes next. Have tweaked a few bits and pieces, but that is all.
Have been retired 21 years and am well used to it. Never had a bucket list, just trogging on as usual. Main concerns are re health and trying to help adult offspring.

(Long time to retirement here), similarly, I used the Trump economic illiteracy to majorly adjust my SIPP portfolio. I had been imho too heavily invested in the US magnificent 7. Now a better spread including two European funds and more funds consistently paying decent yields.

I doubt that will ever happen and the media are scaremongering saying the price of property purchases will increase by 100%. This is really poor misinformation.

Like minds and all that. I sold some of my JGGI and reinvested proceeds into more JEGI, for the same reason. Both funds pay a decent divi.

I'm doing well - just started a new job, so I'm going to be kept busy for a while.

I checked my pension pot and I'm set to draw my pension on my 79th birthday, so just over 11 years of working to go :lolol:
