Marc - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Also, the name is a reminder that good can come out of very bad things.

yes as I've already said leave it alone as I understand FULLY now!

And the magnificent £4000 plus - raised by a bucket collection at the Cheltenham game last season (plus NSC on-line donations), in memory of the 2 East Sussex firefighters who died at the firework factory fire at Halland on December 3rd, 2006.

Indeed - all credit to Buzzer for that one.

And... did you miss the long-term sticky thread 'No Boundaries' raising money for BoF and Frank to give out cricket equipment to poor children in India?

Monies from the upcoming NSC 6-a-side will be going to benefit the REMF and No Boundaries. Some of the raffle prizes are going to be well worth winning so hopefully those monies will be substantial. Watch this space for details...

Somewhere over there...
This is the most pointless thread ever.

You make a point about Brighton fans dying occasionally, but how many Brighton fans do you know who were killed in a terror attack?
9/11 happened before I even knew NSC existed, but I still know that the REMF fund is not only a memorial for Robert Eaton himself, but for all those who died on that day, the people in the buildings, the people on the planes and the firefighters who sacrificed their own life to save others.

This info is found easily on the Charity Commissioners website.
Note that the onetime REMF website - www.remf.net - has lapsed and a completely unrelated organisation is squatting there.

DaSH JFC were extremely grateful for the help from the REMF in meeting our target to replace a flooded and vandalised facility. Details of the cheque presentation from US and Roberts father will be in the Argus shortly. It's a marvellous tribute to a Brighton fan who tragically lost his life in that terrible attack.

www.remf.net now no connection with REMF.

Transcripts of NSC postings at the time the fund was set up can be found at:
www.remf.co.uk/index.html

The most recent update on NSC on where funds have been applied seems to be at:
www.northstandchat.biz/showpost.php?p=1878235&postcount=25

As is obvious NSC is very active in fund raising activities. Funds would go further if advantage taken of Gift Aid - an extra £28 for every £100 raised if donors would complete a declaration based on:
www.givingcampaign.org.uk/images/uploaded/Model_Gift_Aid_Declaration_Form.doc

I am trying to get my head around this thread and not be incredulous or say anything untoward but I hope the Eaton's never see the thread. The REMF is not an Albion charity, it never has been. It has had wondeful support from BHAFC over the years and is the REMF is now by this linked to BHAFC but it has, is and always will be a completely different organisation. Robert Eaton was a supporter of BHAFC all his life and when he was murdered on 9/11 , the charity was instigated on NSC when supporters from BHAFC and CPFC decided to arrange a football match for the chairt to be set up to support teams and children to play football in the name of Rovert Eaton. BHAFC allowed the REMF to use their logo for the charity and this in the only time thjey have allowed their copyright Seagull to be used for something non BHAFC related.

The fund has supported a club with 230 kids in Queens, New York where Robert lived and worked, a coach for 3 years in Mali , Africa to teach kids to play football and hiv awareness who have been orphaned by the disease and in the last 3 years, 8 local teams including 4 sets of kit for a team in Croydon.

We will continue to work to do this and support further clubs in the future and BHAFC we hope will continue to support us.

This charity is rightly very dear to NSC and is something completely unique. It was shortlised for chairty of the years in the Sussex area in the Argus achievement awards this year and also in 2002.

I think a bit of research first may have prevented the insensitive comments in the first post.
