Gareth. That's excellent news. Well done to all those who helped out. The Palace team are gutted by last night's result but we'll be back next year to give it another go and are proud to be able to help out such a great cause.

Everyone involved from both clubs needs a massive pat on the back, well done to all and as ever it was a great night last night.

Peter Ward's a top bloke for making the trip - surely the ultimate club legend by any standards!

Ricky Marlowe again - and scorer in 'The Great Comeback' (1-4 down to draw 4-4).

Hats off to all the players from both teams for making the trip, and for their earnest performances in that, rather a good match. I for one was impressed with the quality of the football over the 90 minutes - as well as the support this year which included singing and chanting and a proper response to the lads on the field. An evening very well spent.

Testament to the player quality and intent that the matches have been so closely contested - these games are not served up as circus entertainment but as good competitions worth watching (and that's why people didn't spend the evening propping up the bar and stayed on the terrace and stands).

This spectator has to admit - well played all!

Its by far the highest gate takings since the first game.

The official gate

Adults 301
Under 16's on their own 4
Under 16's with adult ?

Best guess crowd 320

Added to this helpers, players etc, 400.

That is coming close to Lewes FC Conference gates which sometimes were 500 odd.

The terrace was pretty full by the time of the penalties and should look great on the DVD'

Someone should really make a prime-time, documentary on this. How often do you hear of such commitment these days?

Its a lifetime committment Steve. That was said in 2001 and still applies. The fund and games are getting bigger and better next year. The ultimate goal is to play REMF 10 as possibly the first match or one of the first matches played at Falmer in May 2011.
