Ok, so no-one really wants to see their team relegated, and I'm not sure what it will mean financially. Perhaps getting promoted, or finishing in a play off place in League 2 next season, and generally playing well, therefore more people paying to watch live, etc. could even be better financially than finishing 20th this season, and then struggling again next. I'm not sure.

But relegation could mean a whole new start. New manager, new team, new confidence. All in good time for Falmer.

Just a thought. Discuss.

What's stopping us from getting a new manager, team and confidence in League One?

It would be a catastrophe if we got relegated, and given our performances against Shrewsbury and Luton, I wouldn't be hopeful of getting promoted anytime soon!

Personally I couldn't give a f*** if we get relegated. The new ground's going to get built whatever, and until it does we're going to be treading water as a football club anyway.

Doing well in League 2 against struggling in League 1 = big fish in small pond = better results + better crowds + feelgood factor + less moaning idiots on here.

Do you really expect me to explain why?

There are 2 teams in this league who are complete and utter turd (Cheltenham and Hereford), with Orient, Crewe and Swindon being the worst of the rest.

If you had said to me at the start of the season we would be scrapping for our lives with these 5 teams I would have laughed at the thought.

OK we don't have a fantastic squad, but certainly a team capable of mid-table obscurity at the very least. For us to be in this position is nothing short of a disgrace.

If, heaven forbid, we do get relegated, how many people do you think will seriously consider renewing their season tickets? Yes the club will always have those 2,000 die hards who will renew no matter what, but attendances in League Two would dwindle considerably. Can the board really afford to be losing hundreds of thousands of Pounds in revenue?

I couldn't care less about winning games against Burton, Grimsby, Bury, Morecambe, Darlington (shall I go on?). I want the Albion to be playing at the highest level possible, and the thought of getting relegated is unthinkable. How anyone can think getting relegated is a good thing is beyond me. We got relegated 3 years ago, and look where we are now. Who's to say if we go down to League Two the same won't happen again?

So in my opinion, getting relegated will be a catastrophe, not just because we will be playing teams listed above, but financially I have no idea where relegation would leave us.

I know I've gone on a bit, but just my thoughts on the subject. I'm sure I'll get a fair share of people telling me I'm a knob, but I can guarantee there are a lot of people who share my opinion.

I put no way, because for the new manager to attract players of good quality we need to stay in this division. No-one would want to come to us apart from maybe the attraction of the stadium....

The thread and supposition that relegation is anything but an utter disaster at the worst possible time with the backdrop of the worst recession for 100 years is absurd. ST renewals would struggle to get to 2000, they will struggle to get to 3000-3500 in league one as it is.

It would be a larf to go to Histon, Burton and Accrington wouldn't it! I mean, I wouldn't go cos they're shit but I'm sure dozens of others would probably go.

Welcoming relegation should never be an option, it is like admitting defeat and hence losing the heart for the fight.
It looks like options are running out for the Albion though.
I read here the comment that 'it can't get any worse', but the team will prove this statement wrong in the next game.
How can an injured player be included in the subs, and used in preference to a fit player?
Why are players still out on loan when we are in this much sh*t.
Robinson/anyone would have been better than having to play with 10 men, we're a laughing stock.
There are also comments about players who can't play a whole game, this comment is unbelievable.
If I told my boss that my working week would end at midday on Wednesday and by the way I still want a full weeks wage, he would tell me to f**k off.
Isn't there a clause in the players contract to say that they should, except when suffering an injury obtained whilst playing, stay fit and keep the weight off as part of the job and that if they did not do this they could suffer financially as a breach of contract.
This would sort the lazy fat f**kers.
It is said that we have a very strong squad, not with the current injuries, the squad is only as strong as the players that are available on match day.
When looking at a player, does anyone do any sort of medical history check as all/most recent signings seem to be crocked soon after joining.
It looks like player positions are decided by names in a hat, wouldn't be surprised to see Kuipers in defence when he is back.
I'm glad Gannon didn't come, we want someone who wants to manage here not one who's wife won't let him! bet she makes all the crucial decisions at Stockport as well as darning the socks.
I will not be staying up till 3am local time any more for a while, will get results following day via net and have sweet dreams instead till things improve.
Looks like I will be getting lots of sleep.

Simple survive this season - next season the slate is wiped clean. We have a decent squad - a few additions and new manager could easily be in top 6.

Relegation would not be a disaster if we get promoted (automatically) - but there is no gaurentee of that.

Carn't belive people think relegation would be good, it would be a disaster, we need to be pushing forward towards the championship when we move to falmer not going backwards to league 2, would we fill falmer in league 2 i think not just ask Shrewsbury or Darlington, and would we get promoted next season from league 2?

It is delusional, and also very arrogant, to suggest that we would bounce straight back from relegation to League Two.

I agree with all the points mentioned in previous posts that explain why relegation would be disastrous.

I should also mention that right up until yesterday the first part of my post, in relation to our survival in League One, applied to me. However, I'm now taking my pills and slowly my vision is becoming a little clearer :(
