Just said on the radio that Urs Meier has been placed under police protection because of death threats from some England 'fans'.

FFS - what is the matter with some people. Even if he was wrong (which is questionable), that goes way beyond the realms of sporting banter....

Agreed but I suspect that it was just some people making idle threats they were never going to seriously carry via e-mails and they have shit themselves.

the whole "death threats" thing has got completely out of hand, seem to remember gerard houllier recieving some kind of threat earlier this season.

on one hand these things really shouldn't be blown out of proportion by the media like they are, i mean i don't think anyone was seriously going to assassinate him just because they didn't finish in the top three. on the other hand, it's really sad that some people feel they have to go to such lengths about football.
