Matt Harrold celebrates a goal for Bristol Rovers
Boss John Gregory believes he has the strikeforce to challenge for the play-offs this season after completing the signing of Matt Harrold.
Harrold became the third forward to join Reds this summer along with Gavin Tomlin and Izale McLeod after arriving on a free transfer from Bristol Rovers yesterday.
Crawley were the fourth lowest goalscorers in League One last season with only 48 in 46 games but still managed to finish 14th in the table.
Gregory claims the absence of a proven goalscorer was the main reason Reds failed to finish in the top six but is confident that will not be an issue next season.
The Reds boss said: “In the last four years, Matt has averaged a goal every 2.9 games which is a very impressive statistic. Izale is averaging a goal every 2.3 games so between them statistically we have two very good strikers.
“Scoring goals was our main problem last season but if we had had Izale and Matt we would have got in the play-offs, no question.”
