Ray Parlour has taken a huge pay cut by joining Middlesbrough.

36% of his net income is not so good now is it Karen ? :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: .

This is the repercusion of this ruling in that Men will think why the hell should I have any incentive to earn a good wage if I am giving away 36% of it.

Her income will reduce from £ 420000 per annum to nearer £ 200000. Shame

My understanding is she gets 36% of all future earnings for the next 3 years and then to be reviewed.

Ray has done this deliberately and good luck to him.

arsenal put him on a free transfer, so he got more money. they want 1.5m for him but as he has been at the club long they did it as a good will gesture, he will get 300,000 for leaving on a free transfer

There was some very sound advice in the Argus the other day - from a lawyer at DMH.

If you don't fancy a catastrophic divorce settlement imposed in the English courts, shop around. We are members of the EU. Get divorced in Poland, or Spain or Latvia. You could save a fortune.

Isn't it good that each EU nation controls its own legal system?

However it might be a good idea if Brussels started a project to sweep aside the idiocy that we have to put up with from our courts - so that we could all enjoy the benefits of Latvian common sense in these matters.

He could have come to play for us for three seasons we could probably afford £100 a week. That would really have cheered his ex missus up.

I suppose it depends on how bitter Ray feels about the ruling. If he is giving 36% away any pay cut has less of an impact on him anyway.

The courts can only rule that she will get 36% of future earnings. They cannot impose on Ray what his future earning will be.

Ray could work at McDonalds at get £ 4.30 per hour. With a 40 hour week that would be £ 172 per work or £ 8944 per annum. After deductions Karen would get £ 2736 per annum.

But then he only had a year left on his Arsenal contract, where as 3 on this, so she is guaranteed income, which might not have been there otherwise.

"The deal pays Arsenal a substantial amount subject to appearances and Ray is taking a substantial pay cut," said Parlour's agent Steve Kutner.

"He's excited about playing for Middlesbrough in Europe next season and very happy to extend his career because he only had one year left at Arsenal."

Parlour spent 12 years at Highbury, winning three Premiership titles and three FA Cups.

But he has suffered from injuries in the last two seasons, making only 26 starts for the Gunners.

Jose Antonio Reyes' arrival at Highbury in January pushed him down the pecking order and Parlour had said: "My priority at this stage of my career is to be in the starting XI every week."
