And Smith Did Score!
I'd have willingly spent £ thousands to have got rid of the b@stards. You can't put a price on your health or your sanity. But no-one and nothing managed to get it sorted for us in time. We moved on...

I do feel sorry for the young woman who bought the place from us though (and just a touch guilty if she is still getting these f*cking things) and just hope the bit of paper from the council actually means something for her. She seems to still be there 4 years on... :wozza: :nono:

I want a cat, but will be moving to surrey in october (yay) so can't really get one :(

I have a humane trap, but they're in the cavity / under the floorboards so won't help. I also don't have a car, so can't exactly get on a bus with a rat! Quite tempted to catch the buggers and leave them outside in the cage to die of hunger!

Could get a big trap, but they cost money which i don't have, and i wouldn't like cleaning up the mess!

Will phone the council again tomorrow - and will use BG's tip!

Starting to feel rather itchy!

heres an original idea why don't you foster a cat for a while, and as long as you are in the Brighton area you can PM me and I will give you a phone number of someone who might consider you for fostering and you never know you might just hit it off and keep the little one and move with him/her to Surrey

I remember we had mice and i came home one day to see my dad with something under his foot. "What's that?" I asked.
"A mouse"
"What are you doing?"
"Killing it."
Now that's how you do it.

Just bought one of these:

B Rat Repellent, 0000003524459

Bit more expensive, but the other ones said they didn't go through ceilings / floorboards / cavities which is where the problem is! Haven't seen any rats running from the propert a la pied piper, however it might do the trick - if not, ratty's going to get poisoned!

It also said to put straight into a wall socket - i don't have one spare so have put it on one of my extension lead things! Also said put somewhere unobstructed, which is a bit impossible as i live in a single room with a desk / wardrobe / bed / bedside table in, which isn't exactly open plan!

Let's hope it does the trick!

Best of luck, I tried one & it was no use.:nono:

Mr Rat Zapper on the other hand caused rodent carnage....

I presume as a nurse you are not squeamish but the beauty of the Zapper is they are killed instantly without their blood & guts splurting all over the floor. No mess, you dont even have to touch them just empty into the bin or chuck over a hedge for a fox to dispose of.

Felt a bit guilty when we got a shrew one day, the joys of living in the country

That would be brilliant, but i'm in southampton at the moment, and probably couldn't give it the life it deserves. Would get a lot of love, fuss and attention, but not much food! Also live between a river, and a railway track which backs on to my house - and would never forgive myself if moggy got squished!
