Bit confused by all this. I thought the reason the game is midday Sunday is to stop fans drinking and therefore getting up for it. If pubs are opening at 8am, that is no different to a Saturday everyone getting in at opening at 11.

So why bother switching it?

Recall in the old days, the coppers used to shut down pubs in the area prior to matches for high profile games?

Yep.. Think they open at 8 then sell alcohol from 9.. So breakfast then a few beers is sorted.

Unfortunately you have been miss informed. Ross the landlord showed me the letter from the council stating that they refused the 0800hr licence on the recommendation of the old bill. Earlier post stating beer at 1000hrs is correct.
