Gills prepared to sell any player
Paul Scally
Scally is not in a position to refuse substantial offers for players
Gillingham chairman Paul Scally says the club will reluctantly accept substantial offers for any player.

"It gives me great grief to see players like Marlon King, Darius Henderson and Bob Taylor and others leave this club," Scally told the Kent Messenger.

"We don't want to sell our players but we'd be foolish to say no player is not for sale, because all players are for sale at a price."

The Gills hope to build a new stadium despite debts of more than £10m.

Depends on their definition of "substantial" compared with ours.

Unfortunately, our idea of a "substantial" offer is probably £2.50 and a set of used goalposts, unless it's an entirely unheard-of foreign striker in which case we'll chuck every penny we can at him only to then release him a year early without giving him a fair chance.

The only one who would have been of interest to us has gone to Millwall - Darren Byfield.

Not so sure about that, I seem to remember Henderson not being too bad when he was here on loan before.

He's a tall target man, which is what McGhee constantly tells us that we need, and I'm sure I also remember him being pretty decent at penalties (and we don't have a regular penalty taker since The Poison Dwarf left).

Except he's at Watford now:lol:

Ah, I see where I misread the original post now.

Apologies for my mistake.

We're almost as skint as Gillingham, aren't we?

Haven't we got debts of £8-9m which is almost the same as their £10m?

And they probably still get more match day revenue than us.

They're betting everything on getting a new stadium too.

I'm just waiting for LDC to find a way of sticking their noses into that one too.

Sure, Gillingham isn't within their jurisdiction, but that hasn't exactly stopped them with regard to Falmer (with the exception of the proposed site of one coach park, which I believe does fall within their boundaries).
