Paula Radcliffe has broken the world five kilometre road record with a storming performance at the Flora Light women's challenge in London's Hyde Park.
Radcliffe, who already holds world records at the marathon and 10k, destroyed a world-class field to win in 14 minutes 51 seconds, breaking the old world best time set by American Deena Drossin in California last year by three seconds.
Radcliffe led virtually all the way to beat Ethiopia's Derartu Tulu and Ireland's Sonia O'Sullivan.
Britain's golden girl missed the World Championships after not recovering from the setbacks of injury and illness.
She said: "It was just a case of going out and running as hard as I could."
