I don't understand what you're trying to say.

That's exactly what happened: the SS misreported an interview with Tony Blair and the rumour has spread from there. The SS admitted they got it wrong and unfairly maligned him

What I didn't understand was your "that clears it up" remark implying that there was still some doubt. I don't see why there should be: Blair is often on mere nodding acquaintance with truth - and is often a bare-faced liar - but he was wronged on this particular occasion.

I'm certainly no cheerleader for Weller. I still haven't forgiven him for The Style Council

i cant stand weller as a bloke, he seems such a dour miserable sod, and i do think he shit on rick buckler and bruce foxton, but what was wrong with the style council ?? did some pretty good records ?

My memories of 80s music were blighted by The Style Council and Sade. They seemed to be played everywhere and I thought there were bland, boring and tuneless. Mantovani for the pleated-pants generation.
