Thought I'd post this in case any of you were not aware of it's benefits....

Quidco is a cashback site, that pays you either a fixed amount or a % of any purchase you make using the link from the Quidco site Quidco - The web's cashback cooperative

Loads of merchants are linked to the scheme; play.com, Argos, WH Smith, GAME, Waterstones, Gameplay, Maplin, P&O Ferries, Apple etc etc. They all offer varying amounts of cashback paid against an order completely tracked online

Anyway, the biggest earners seem to be in Financial Services. Recently, I had to renew my home insurance. Got a couple of quotes and the best one was with LV - policy cost me £80, and I got £60 cashback!!!

Today I've been looking at quotes for my bf's car insurance, and there are about 30 insurers on there offering cashback. Managed to find him a good policy, cheaper than his current one, and again £68 cashback!

The money gets paid straight into your nominated bank account, so it's essentially free cash to do whatever with.

I suspect a fair few of you already know about this, but if you don't, then here is a bit of a heads up for you, especially those of you renewing your insurance in the near future!

Just for the record, I have no connection to the site

Been mentioned in passing a few times before, I've been using it for a few years now. Must have pocketed a good £150+, including £70 for my contract phone a couple of years back. Top site.

I think it's been mentioned a couple of times on here before, well worth mentioning it again though. Lots of bookies on there too, easy to make a guaranteed profit on at least 10 of the sites listed.

I haven't mastered the art of multi quoting yet, but thanks DS and Tinx for the other 2 cashback sites recommendations. Will be looking at them as well now.

Just a point of order really...

Many sites that rely on affiliate income in order to fund their existence do not permit discussions on Quidco and similar since such discussions very obviously persuade users to buy via their sites at the expense of the affiliate adverts on the site itself.

For the time being I'm happy to let this, and similar, discussions to continue, as...

1. NSC's general affiliate income is pretty low - although NSC has hundreds of affiliates - I've stuck to a few of the main ones that people are likely to use. However work did start on a general NSC shopping page that listed all of our affiliates as well as current 'hot deals' that could be found at some of them.

2. Most of NSC's affiliate income comes from Amazon. I'm aware that Quidco do not offer Amazon which means, I hope, cashback-aware users will use NSC's click-through for Amazon and contribute towards the upkeep of the site. There may be other cashback sites that do offer Amazon however.

3. NSC is relatively cash-rich, with enough money in the pot currently to cover around 4 years worth of NSC's running costs.

However, in these times of economic uncertainty, NSC has been impacted too. There are some little text ads at the bottom of every NSC page - you may never have noticed them. These ads have been earning NSC c£60 per month (depending on the exchange rate). However these are being withdrawn now, so NSC will lose this income. Because of this, I may need to pick up the 'NSC Shopping' piece of work again to try and boost our affiliate income.

So, in short, if every user was ultra-cashback-aware and always used cashback sites for every purchase, then NSC would not exist. So by all means use cashback sites, and discuss them here. But, if you are able to do so every now and again, click via NSC to earn us a few pennies and help guarantee the long-term life of this site.
