OK, great NSC'ers, Wife has been looking after her Mother whilst her Father's been in hospital, she's back this weekend and we're looking for four / five day break in Europe. Prefer to see things rather than just lie in the Sun, but would prefer warm, any ideas please? Mon - Thu ish, reasonable budget.

Be plenty of big city recommendations; one off beaten track somewhat is Strasbourg. Quick to fly to. Beautiful. Lots of history, places to see being European Parliament and you can maybe pop into Germany if you fancy it also.

Oporto or Thessaloniki, both of them the 2nd largest city to their respective capitals, both of them thus a lot less crowded, more relaxed, yet plenty to offer the sightseer.

Nice is fabulous. Great walks along the seafront, turquoise water and Monaco and Canne within a train ride if you like to people watch

Krakow in Poland is beautiful and the old Jewish quarter is lovely to wander around. Cheap compared to lots of other city breaks too. temperatures in mid 20s next week too.

Of those already mentioned in this thread, I’d heartily second Vienna, Krakow and especially Stockholm.

Also - we visited a load of European cities, inter-railing last spring. favourite amongst those were Budapest (extremely photogenic, if you’re into that) and Köln (fabulous vibe - loved this place).

Malta? English speaking and loads of history. Thousands of restaurants.
I can advise if required.
