I can't stand Toynbee or Abbott really. I can't believe people with such blinkered views even exist. Everyone should be equal but one ideology should be more equal than others.

Farage was exposed a little bit last night on the subject of housing for immigrants. He said you could get a house in two weeks on arrival in the UK , whilst the Lib Dem and someone in the audience flatly denied it. SOMEBODY had got their facts wrong and I think it was Farage. Which leads me to believe the guy is generally full of ill informed hyperbolic scaremongering rhetoric. Not to be trusted.

You are absolutely right. When he started off last night on how easy it is for immigrants to get social housing, my wife was quite surprised when i exploded with a "That's absolute rubbish". He was then torn apart by the audience member. He is a prime example of someone who can spout utter rubbish and lies with such confidence that people believe him. he is an odious arrogant prat.

Maybe, but seriously could you inform me how immigrants get housing.

I do have a problem with numbers rather than immigrants per se, but I know immigrants that are working and unemployed and are housed.

I doubt its easy to get any social housing whatsoever. But If people arrive in this country from the EU, cannot find any work, in the end they are entitled to benefits like everyone else.

Your right we can also claim benefits. But I also agree our benefits are far more generous than a lot of other countries.

I have just been looking at a website called "Housing Rights Information", which just shows how complicated it all is, but it is worth a look if you want to take the subject seriously. And obviously, as has just been said above, we have reciprocal rights in other places.

There is a large Polish community in Southampton, and has been historically for a long time. In my own experience, those who come here from that country and elsewhere in eastern Europe, for example, come to this country with a genuine desire to make themselves a better life because the opportunities over here are better tyhan in their own countries. Many have no intention of tapping in to our benefits system and find their own rented accommodation and make their own way.

There are also some scum in our own country who exploit people and their fears. I am aware of a case a couple of years ago locally where some Portugese workers found their way to a Benefits Advice Centre to find out their rights. They were being held in virtual captivity and convinced by those who were exploiting them that they were "illegal", whereas as nationals of a long-standing EU country - longer-standing than us - they had every right to be here.

Abbott is a bell-end. She was giving that Tory MP a dressing down last night about something or other. The cheek of her off the back of her infamous tweets and general embarrassing/stupid behaviour. Shame Ed Miliband didn't have the balls to get rid of her when he had the chance. She'd do well to keep a low profile.

You kinda have put your own spin on it, which isnt really needed.

With the greatest respect I was hoping you could precis the process of how the many 100 000's of immigrants employed or otherwise have accessed housing.

Bollocks - he was purely re-stating what he'd been told by a couple of people (can't remember whether they were immigrants themselves or not?!) earlier in the week - I am sure he hadn't come on TV just to make it up FFS!!
You may not like him but personally I don't see him as arrogant in the slightest - he talks a lot of sense AND has a sense of humour to boot!!
