Thanks for that. It's a bit of a bizarre system though. Imagine if we had a break in the middle of the season had to play a Scottish Div 1 club. And it would be a bit of a lottery - imagine a team six points ahead of its league and having to pay Rangers while its closest rival had to play Stirling Albion. .

It does seem a bit random from a UK sports fan's point of view. However, due to salary caps, the draft system and the sheer size of the league, there are no such inequalities as Rangers and Stirling Albion.

The over riding reason for introducing inter league match ups was - you won't be surprised to learn - money. Or officially to introduce some local derbies and generate new interest. For example the San Francisco Giants are currently playing Oakland and this is a great event for the city. More "local" derbies last night as The Rays beat the Marlins, Washington beat Baltimore.

The debate over whether its good for the game is very similar to ours regarding the Football League play offs. Traditionalists don't like them, but no one can deny it adds extra interest and gets more people watching games.

Fenway park is a much better experience to watch a game at.

It's a must you know the words to Sweet caroline though to be able to join in the pregame fun.

Always the best version is when it's sung "Sweet Caroline, YANKEES SUCK!" (not this version)

Also for Red Sox fans Fitzy is the man to follow with his humorous bits throughout the year.
