Thanks everybody for the advice.
How I understand some of the replies, it seems that you may not need additional antivirus software if running Windows 10?
Avast has got several thumbs up. If I use this, would I need to disable the built-in Windows software or do they run together?
Are "Dubious" websites adult ones, or more sinister? I ask this as an adult!
I look forwards to any responses. Thanks.

Dubious websites don't really include mainstream porn sites although buyer beware if you are treading off the 'beaten' path.

Windows 10 comes with Defender which is good enough unless your downloading dodgy torrentz or visiting russian warez sites or clicking random links sent to you in emails from people you don't know.

Otherwise get a free avg if you want the added feeling of security, windows or avast should flag up any issues if you need to disable Defender. Not sure haven't used a third party antivirus for years, Microsoft Defender and common sense should be enough.

McAfee is basically a virus in itself. Amazed you've been happy with it. Avast and AVG are far less intrusive.

Microsoft Security Essentials does a decent job imo.

Been using Avast for years now and really rate it to the extent that I'm considering getting a paid version :D

Thank you. This is reassuring! The way the replies are going, I don't think I'll be paying for McAfee again.
I'll see any other replies here, but at the moment, it looks like Avast for me, unless Windows Defender gets more positive mentions.

Long as you're not visiting seriously dubious sites you will be fine with Microsoft's built in security essentials or whatever its called now and an occasional scan of the free version of malwarebytes.

As well as keeing regular backs ups of any important information.

Malwarebytes seems popular here. Avast, AVG or the aforementioned now in the frame.

Don't confuse the 2 as they do different things. Malawarebytes is used to combat malaware and anti virus for stopping viruses. Another vote here for avast which has performed well for me over the years. You do have to suffer pop ups to upgrade to a paid version but that's the price you pay for getting something for free

I use the free Windows Defender anti-virus, however I also use Super Anti-Spyware (Free Edition) once a month, and Adwcleaner (now been bought by the Malwarebytes company)
Always worth a clean after using some of the streaming sites just in case.
