Much preferred it when we were playing 4-5-1 with Murray up top on his own, any reason why Sparrow wasn't playing today. I think Gus got it wrong with 10 to go, taking off Kish for Bridcutt, he should have taken off a striker to shut up shop.
agree we need the killer touch in front of goal, we also need that drive from midfield/defence someone who wants to attack , backward and sidewide passing good , but dont get anywhere , pass it forward 20 yard's back 10 forward 20 , as the old north stand used to chant ATTACK , ATTACK , ATTACK ,
We are providing chances, but unfortunately they're not getting taken. At this moment in time, with the team plying the way they are, Barnes has the perfect opportunity to build a healthy goal tally but has been unable to do so. His chance in nthe 2nd half today when he opted to chest a cross and got closed down rather than head from 7 yards sums it up for me.
It's decision making when it counts that is lacking. Whilst Murray is playing the unselfish "target man" role, the pressure is on the other striker to convert chances. The chances are there, the goals aren't.
It may be a "bad patch" but it's costing us points.
I don't know what the solution is, stick with Barnes, go for Sandaza or recall Holroyd etc. But the team would be miles ahead now if we did have a genuine 20 goal a season player with a clinical, cold eye for goal.
