The MET webpage says no snow in the south, maybe in the north though

An area of high pressure coming up from the south, and meeting low pressure from the north. It will clash directly over the UK by the end of the week, lots of isobars drifting across the Atlantic, forming a depression just west of Ireland, all of which can only mean ONE THING...

...I don't actually understand meteorology at all.

No, anywhere north is good enough, air from the East is usually too dry to give any snow. Anywhere above the dashed line with 528 on it can get snow (ie. if it would normally rain, it will snow)

And the black line down the middle of the UK means rain/snow.

I believe that Yoda himself would actually have said
"For snow, from the east, the wind is needed"

For those who bet, snow has to fall on the London weather centre to count so it is only London that counts really.

Bet on Aberdeen, most likely place. Though the odds have dropped from about 11-1 to 5/2 in London over the last few days.

Mr Fridge...your talking bollocks. Snow can fall on any one of 28 met sites in the UK and it does not (strictly speaking) have to fall as snow. The Argus also carries a page on this matter. From what I gather the South may well get snow on Boxing day but it won't be much, if any as it's likely to be very sleety. The good money is on anywhere North of Birmingham!
