Whenever we try and play DVDs on my sons PS2 in his room there is a horrible green mist over the screen.

Are we doing something wrong ?

Any ideas, is it because it is chipped ?

Not sure although I know getting a PS2 chipped is a bad idea - from what I've read.

Do the DVD's and PS2 work with another TV? (downstairs, maybe) Are the DVD's Region 2? Are you connected via scart or co-ax? Do you get sound but no vision?

Jem - interesting we get sound OK and they work downstairs OK.
Co-ax connection and the PS2 has a DVD select region - should we try region 2 ?

"Co-ax"!?!? You mean an RF lead? God, no one uses an RF lead for PS2.

I'd guess you're actually using an (RGB) SCART lead, which offers a sharp picture for games but... a green effect when playing DVDs. It's Sony's way of preventing you making good quality copies of DVDs onto VHS. Crazy, I know.

The answer is to use a standard (composite) SCART lead, as supplied with the machine BUT the picture quality ain't great.

Much better, if your TV has a S-video input, is to use an S-video lead (great quality for DVDs and PS2).

Ask for advice at a local store if you're still confused.
