For me it’s the talk of no big transfers between teams in it.

Can't really see the proposal not to transfer players between the CL Teams being workable under EU restraint of trade rules. The proposal would seem to put the block on moves such as Coutinho or Suarez from Liverpool.

The problem is that Uefa and Fifa are either too weak or too corrupt to stand up to the big teams and their pursuit of money rather than glory. Fifa should decree that every competition should be meritocracy based on what happens on the football pitch rather than in the finance dept!!!

UEFA and FIFA have their noses in the trough as much as any club

What a shame football has "progressed". I've enjoyed this season and I really don't care if we go down, to get away from all this Premier League nonsense. As for going bust without it maybe if we don't spunk away millions on the likes of Locadia, Ali-J, Izquerdo and just focus on the academy we#ll be fine.

I only watch some Champions League games because I might bet on them, that's about it. Proposals such as these mean we'll never be part of it.

Howabout a Champions Cup, where the winners only of each European League (plus the winners of the last year's Champions Cup) have a knock-out tournament. Home and Away legs, with draws for the next round, so you never know who might get whom. Then the winners of that cup really would be the champion of champions.

H, those were the days. Trouble is that they would also want a league, a league cup and a Toblerone cup as well.

The more they’ve expanded the Champions league, the more boring it’s got. Unsurprisingly viewing figures for the competition have plummeted in recent years.

The only way to make it interesting would be to reduce the number of teams to streamline it but that will never happen as the top clubs wouldn’t want to risk missing out on qualification.

Do they publish the viewing figures for televised football? It would be interesting to see the stats for different clubs and competitions.
Personally I have little interest in European football, since we don’t play in it. There was a time that I rooted for “our teams” against the foreigners but that dwindled with foreign ownership and management of them. Now I see them as competition for Albion and I am happy if they knock themselves out midweek if we play them at weekends.

That would never catch on! It would be a disaster if the English winners of the previous year's tournament, say Liverpool, were drawn against the English champions, say Nottingham Forest, in the first round, wouldn't it?
