Predicting the Blues – Report after the Swindon Town

A record number of people predicted an Albion win. You were wrong.

Out of the 158 entrants, only 17 went for a draw – and only six people predicted the 2-2 draw. Congratulations to Bald Gull, Dunkstar, e block rebellion, gezza, Juan Albion and tedebear who score the maximum five points. Everyone else who predicted a draw, but got the scoreline wrong gets two points.

One point is picked up by a whole host of players (86, to be precise) who predicted that the Albion would score twice or that Swindon would score twice – in a game that produced a winner.

Which leaves 55 players with no points for getting every element of the result wrong.


The Season So Far

The first clearout of the season has happened. Eight players have been eliminated from the competition for missing six games in a row. A further seven might disappear next week, if they don’t submit an entry for the Colchester United game – bigc, hart’s shirt, Jam the Man, Lord Donald Barrington-Nash, Padders, The Beer Man and Tummy Burger.

Sitting at the top of the PtB Super League is still fatbadger – thanks to the two points he scored this week. gezza’s five points propel him into second place, leaping over CrabtreeBHA, Braders100 and Giant Seagull. Guinness Boy now sits alone at the bottom of the table.

The Full Table is still led by a couple of players who have only entered on one occasion – Digmut and jeremy beadles hand. Best placed of the rest are Bald Gull and Juan Albion, two players who correctly forecast the 2-2 draw. At the foot of the Full Table, still to score after two games, are Gangsta and Wilts.

Predicting the correct outcome of the game (home win, draw or away win) - ONE point

Correctly predicting ALL OF THE ABOVE (ie being right) - ONE EXTRA BONUS POINT

This means that there is a maximum of FIVE points to be scored for each game.

Players will be ranked in an overall league table, calculated by taking the AVERAGE SCORE they have achieved for the games they have entered.

A minimum of EIGHT entries during the season will be necessary if you are to figure in the final league table.

Once they have joined, any player who misses SIX GAMES IN A ROW will be expelled from the competition, but will be permitted to rejoin at any time, although earlier results will be expunged.

Predictions are invited for all league and cup games. The score at the end of play (including any extra time played) will be the score that counts. Goals scored in a penalty shoot-out do not count.

All predictions must be posted BEFORE the scheduled kick-off time. NSC Time will apply to the competition, not GMT or BST or any other system that applies in the real world. This is a virtual competition that is worthless and has no prizes for any winners, unless a major benefactor steps forward.
