These are always interesting; as some players are adamant that we should play our strongest eleven, where in reality the truth is we will probably make eleven changes.

You’d imagine Steele would come back in, or maybe McGill will be given a chance as the cup keeper this year with Bart and Jason rotating in the league and European games.
JPvH and Igor almost certain to start again in central defence. Baleba likely to start in midfield.
Welbeck up top? Or will he be saved for Villa on Saturday who he has a good record against.

Steele

Lamptey
van Hecke
Igor
Samuels

Hinshelwood
Baleba

March (captain)
Buananotte
Adingra

Ansu Fati

Well if he keeps rotating the keepers after they've played twice, that means Verbruggen is playing Wed. So maybe something like this?

Verbruggen

Veltman
Dunk
Van Hecke
Lamptey

Baleba
Dahoud

March
Lallana
Mitoma

Pedro
Yeh I think it’ll be something like this and will surprise some at how strong it is. RDZ doesn’t seem to like losing or putting out majorly weaker sides.

Sussex but not by the sea
This could go to pens and one thing with RDZ is he learns constantly, therefore Steele get the gloves.
The other thing with RDZ is he ALWAYS tries to win every match, hence why I’d be super surprised if the OPs starting 11 were even close.
I expect to rest players that need rest but still be very competitive.

Steele

Lamptey
Webster (needs games not rest)
Igor
March (I’d like to see him play the Pervis role)

Baleba
Dahood (very tempted on Gilmour just to piss them off, probably bring him on)

Adringa
Lallana (need an experienced leader out there with Dunk unlikely to feature and Gross+Milner out)
Ansu Fati

Ferguson

Mainly strong bench but also with 2 or 3 U21s on it.

So hard to predict....but a few players you would think are more likely to start.....Baleba, Lamptey, Igor maybe otherwise who knows!! I think Hinshlewood will get a game as well. Three huge games after this one before the break. My prediction for this:-
Verbruggen
Hinshlewood, Van Hecke, Igor, Lamptey
Dahoud, Baleba
March, Lallana, Fati
Fergurson

Impossible to predict. Might as well just stick names in a hat and pull them out. I couldn't even decide on the keeper!

Something to read...

Although not very interesting, to be honest.
I've just read that. They are a big team, make no mistake, and yet there they are talking about losing to us. Quote-
Could be a giant killing on the table.
But I don't think our squad has enough quality to pull it off.
and
If we can defend well enough I guess we have a small chance of winning a shootout...

That was under Graham Potter. When we played Arsenal and Charlton under RDZ he had just a couple of U21s on the bench. With the injuries to Gross and Milner he may want to protect Gilmour and Dahoud. I wouldn't be surprised if Lallana played in there next to Baleba.

.................... Verbruggen ........................

Lamptey ... Igor ... Dunk ... Estupiñan

.............. Baleba ... Groß ....................

March ........... Lallana ............... Fati

...................... Ferguson ...................

I'd play this line up so as I believe it would be helpful getting Bart, Igor, Baleba and Fati up to speed with our style of play, and they need a fair bit of experience around them in order to do that.

I think this is a handy fixture for quite a few players.
