For goalkeeper, how about Henrique Hilario from Chelsea? Out of contract in the summer and can't see Chelsea wanting to keep him. I know for a fact through some personal connections that he's very happy living in London with his family so cant see him upping sticks, so Brighton could well be an attractive option as it wouldn't involve moving his family anywhere and he'd get some first team football. What does NSC think?

I think Gus is looking for someone who is Gus Poyet mkII, to do everything that Gus Poyet would do, at exactly the right moments and in exactly the right way, as he would do. Gus want a projection of Gus playing for Brighton and Hove Albion.

If we were managers, we would all be trying to put in the ideal ingredient - the perfect embodiment of a Brian Horton, a Danny Cullip, a Bobby Zamora, a Roy Keane, a Glenn Hoddle or Liam Brady.

Navarro
Vincelot
Vicente (perma crocket, granteD)
JFC (youth player, granted)
Noone
Lua Lua
Dicker (long term injury, granted)
Buckley
Bridcutt
Harley
Sparrow

Anymore for anymore? Half our squad are midfielders.

Another midfielder?

Sparrow - before monday what had he done? goals scored - 0 assists - 0 chances created - very few shots - 0
harley - not good enough on what he has shown
navarro - just isnt good enough to be at a club with ambitions of being a top championship team
bridutt - has struggled at times but needs help
dicker - injured
vicente -?

noone, kaz and buckley are not midfielders they are wide players

We obviously have different ideas about what a midfield is all about,i want players yo dominate games, create chances and chip in with goals regulary our midfield just isnt good enough and this has been proved week in week out this season ! i fall to believe that anyone thats watched us regulary this season can't see that

Why does Gus fail to recognise the most urgent area needing attention is a fullback and a goalkeeper. He is completely obsessed with midfielders, we have midfielders coming out of our ears.

He was asked specifically what areas he thought we needed to improve.

I would say no, on the basis that every time I've seen him, he has been utterly useless.

Although he has a good name.

as i said above ie sparrow before monday.....1 performance wont change my mind about the midfield im afraid ! they need to start doing it consistantly.Hopefully it will give sparrow some confidence and he will start hitting the net more regularly but i hadn't seen much from him before monday,i struggle to remember him creating a chance or having a decent effort on goal
When your playing 1 upfront you need midfielders who get ahead of the strikers like jake did on monday

Not the real one
Can't agree about Harley (he's had his chance) or Brez. I don't reckon he had a "stormer" the double save was brill and he has more presence than Casper but he had 3 or 4 dire moments that we got very fortunate with. He defo gets the nod over Casper for me but I reckon a keeper would be my first prioroty.

I still think Harley can go on to become a better player, he shows some signs of quality and then let's himself down 2 minutes later. First thing he did when he came on on Monday was to put in a peach of a corner that Sparrow scored from. There wasn't enough time left for him to let himself down this time tho.

I can't think of many worse players we've signed on perm deals in recent times, any quality is limited to 1 or 2 touches a game but the game lasts 90 minutes. I can take corners but doubt that would get me in the team. Maybe he is a good L1 player, rep says he is, but we've all sen the difference. He doesn't have the strength or energy. I think he might have vision but doesn't get into spaces often or quick enough and his execution is cack. He can't tackle for toffee and spends most of the time chasing shadows.

What really made my mind up was watching him off the ball during the Barnsley. You should try it, can't deny you miss a lot of what's going on but if you focus on Harley and what watch he does off the ball you may see something different

Great goal v P'boro is wearing a bit thin

Odd as it might sound I genuinely hope you're right though

Nothing like supporting our players. Last season Craig Noone did okay at League 1 level but nothing special. This year, after spending pre season here, he has been great at the level above. I think Harley, as with Glenn Murray, has a languid style that doesn't endear him to fans as they think he is not putting the effort. He has not been great but to call him one of the worst players we have signed on a permanent deal recently is ludicrous. So are you saying he is worst than the likes of Baz, Sandaza, Livermore, Thomson, Hawkins etc?

Mate, I have supported the team and club all my life ... doesn't mean to say I have to be positive about every player. Feel free to go through all my posts, don't think I've ever criticised any player before, yes the odd performance but that's it. I also watch enough of the game to base my views on more than just a languid style thanks.

Why is it ludicrous to say he's one of the worst? Someone has to be the worst! You've given 5 names over how many years .. I did say one of the worst. Even if you gave me 20 names over this time I'm not sure it's proves my statement ludicrous

I am not suggesting you are not supporting the team. Maybe ludicrous is a bit too strong. Harsh may be fairer. Harley clearly has a lot more ability than a lot of players we have signed over the years. Maybe it won't work out for him here but look at players like Guy Butters who had an awful time when first with us and became a fantastic player. All I am saying is 10 or 15 games is not enough time to judge a player.
