Why does Gus fail to recognise the most urgent area needing attention is a fullback and a goalkeeper. He is completely obsessed with midfielders, we have midfielders coming out of our ears.

And with the exception of JFC and Vicente(lol)...none of them are what you would called creative centre midfielders.

"But every player we want is earning too much money, or the ones we wanted have started playing"

I.e. Livermore and Jara.

That are up to the job, I might add.

Sparrow, scored two goals versus Southampton but inconsistant, Harley (lol) and Dicker (injured). Still with decent rotation we should be able to get the best out of them (along with JFC and Vicenter (lol))

But wouldn;t you say the need for fullbacks is greater? (personally not that bothered about goalkeeper- Brez/Casper will do this Season).

Think the real blow is having Dicker on long term injured ... I know he divides some people, but to me he has been one of our best players for the past two seasons.
There is always a feeling that when Dicker ticks the Albion clicks ... no-one plays the same challenging passing game as Gary. But agree we do have TOO many midfielders.

I'm feeling more and more that this midfielder who is seemingly on high wages is Keith Andrews, would fit the bill perfectly. I'm just glad he's realised CMS needs a partner, however a keeper would be nice, as well as Reyes.

It is interesting that there's no mention of search for defensive reinforcement. This suggests that not only are Calderon and Tanno expected to recover fully and play significant roles in the rest of the season, but to me it also carries the implicit expectation of an improvement in the disciplinary record, given that, during large parts of this season to date, even if all our defenders were fit at any given time, one or more of them is likely to have been suspended.

It's not clear which type of midfielder, either. If it's yet another wide man, that suggests Vicente is not being counted on at all. But another centre mid? Even with Dicker out, I'd be a bit surprised.

According to a comment in the Argus some papers have reported we are after Bailey from Derby County.

Gus obviously believes attack is the best form of defence and that as long as we're scoring we're half a chance to win.

When you see how many games lately where we've had so fewer a shots on goal comapred to the opposition I can kind of see where he's coming from.

We have 4 wide midfielders (including Vicente who doesn't really count) and 7 (Seven) central midfielders.

Madness to get another central midfielder, unless some are going out the other way. Could see some sense in getting another right winger if Vicente is being f***ed off.

A striker and creative attacking midfielder (depending on Vicente's fitness) would be my priority too

IF (big if) Calderon and Painter can stay fit, I think we are strong enough at the back, although agreed we do need cover at fb and possibly improvement moving forward. We do need a new keeper though. The problem with the defence is that is it constantly being put under far to more pressure by losing possesion in midfield and not getting the ball forward quick enough, tippy tapping around with it. That's where I see the need for a creative cm. Who can hold onto the ball and make something happen instead of moving it sideways and backwards and getting caught out all the time.
