[h=3]Poyet: Let's keep run going to the play-offs[/h]9:00am Monday 22nd April 2013 in Albion By Andy Naylor
Paul Ince and Gus Poyet on Saturday
GUS Poyet has urged Albion to continue their rich vein of form through to the Championship play-offs.
A record-breaking 6-1 win against Blackpool at The Amex leaves the Seagulls needing a maximum of one win from their remaining two games at Leeds on Saturday and at home to Wolves a week later to clinch a top six spot.
The trouncing of Blackpool stretched Albion's unbeaten run to seven matches. Poyet believes it is important for his team’s promotion prospects to maintain the momentum.
He said: “Let’s see if we can finish well because without any doubt when you are doing well and scoring goals and winning games you go with a different kind of mentality.
“You need to control that but it’s better to go that way and not losing the last three and just getting in somehow, so we will use that confidence.”
The Blackpool result is Albion’s biggest win in the second tier since thrashing Carlisle by the same score in October 1985.
It is also their biggest in the League for 13 years and eclipses the previous record margin of victory at The Amex, set back in August when Barnsley were beaten 5-1.
Poyet said: “We had sunshine, 28,500 and an excellent display. I suppose people who were at home or couldn’t get a ticket regret the situation, because it was a day to be at The Amex.”
