I was surprised when Hughton went, but the more I read or heard about GP before the start of the season, the less I thought it was a gamble. And our recruitment system would minimise the risks involved anyway. He would not have been appointed unless the club was confident in his ability.

But what on earth are "advanced metrics"? That bit told me nothing!
