Shit crossing and losing too many 50/50 balls in the second half didn’t help

Shit does indeed happen, but we should know by now how to stop it happening, it's a far too regular occurring theme.

Constant back passing and pressurising our own keeper is a massive fail in my book, and a lack of killer instinct as soon as we get over the half way line.

Totally agree and, in contrast to us, Bournemouth looked positive when going forward.

Good first half nd didnt deserve to go in 1 down. Poor 2nd half niot helped by the Complete Shyster f....g up the 1st yellow for DUNK and our inbility to cross the ball from the right towards a player rather than straight into Begovic hands which was done by Montoya, March and Gross all guilty.

They got a grip of midfield in the second half, that's what happened. And with no Duffy, Stephens or Murray the spine of the team looked flimsy when we were on the back foot. Looked good in the first half though when we had more of the ball.

If anything the second half highlighted the role that Stephens plays in the team and the first half the role he doesn't/can't. Hopefully Hughton will get the balance right of when to play or not play him and those who slag him off can realise what he brings to the team.

As an aside that team started with only two of the side that got us promoted. That has to be a record low number? Earlier in the season we had seven or eight.
Absolutely. No way Stephens would have let Brooks get away from him and get a shot away like Propper did. He'd have stopped him, fair or foul. At 0-0 I fancied us, but at 1-0 Bournemouth could control the game and nullified us throughout the second half

Poor choice of sub bringing bong on for gross. A defender for an attacker when we already looked toothless going forward. Basically killed any chance of salvaging something, even with 10 men

Although Hughton tried different players it was still the same system
That’s what needs changing two up top what we gotta lose
Locadia on the wing instead of knocky
Just not gonna work out for him
Solly so frustrating and now taking free kicks which were embarrassing

First one had to be hit by a left-footer, okay it was a poor effort but it was either going to him or Bernardo

From watching online.

First-half we played well, pretty much in charge throughout. They scored a great goal against the run of play. Should we have been in front before that though? Bissouma opting to shoot instead of play the ball across for Andone to tap-in. Locadia playing well and like he has a point to prove, getting into good positions and playing some great passes. Very very harsh to be behind at the break.

Felt fairly confident at half-time that we would go on to get at least a draw from the game. Second half begins, first few minutes carry on as the first half did and then suddenly we look on the back foot and let them in to the game. Bissouma elbows their player in the back of the head, Dunk gets a yellow card. Montoya can’t find a player wearing blue and white when crossing the ball in to the box. Dunk then sent off for a stupid challenge which completely killed any inkling that we could maybe get a draw out of this. We look awful now.

What happened to the team that was pretty much in charge during the first half, what occurred at half-time?

Howe gave his team a kick up the backside?

When we lost Dunk we needed another CB who would you have put there instead of moving Bernardo. As it happens it cost us the 2nd goal but CH wasnt to know or expect that.

Also watched online and you are mostly spot on. However, what changed was Smug Eddie shoring up midfield, a no brainier when they were (very luckily) one up.

Wasn't it a case of Bernardo moving to centre back to replace Dunk and Bong to full back?...at that stage only one nil down ..maybe if t was 2 or 3 he wouldn't of..but I dont see that as a bad substitution

Bournemouth played the whole match with one striker, I don’t think we needed to bring another CB on and we could have gone for it a bit more. Murray was literally about to come on for Gross but CH changed after the red card.

There is an easy answer to this question and his name is Ben White. He should have been on the bench, but Hughton does not have any faith in an U23 side who are doing great things. That’s scandalous in my opinion. Why have two full backs on the bench?

What is the point in all this investment, all their achievements if they have no chance of progressing?

I was saying this to someone else earlier. What is the point in our u23s? Must be bloody frustrating for some of those lads

The same could be said of the midfield with Stephens and Kayal plus Knockaert as a wide midfielder, so perhaps CH got the bench wrong.

No perhaps about it IMO. You can’t change the game or react to situations properly with that bench. Two full backs, two central midfielders. So uninspiring.
