Great manager.

Thanks.

Is there any loyalty in football? No. So, who can blame him.

Mixed feelings on the whole saga, although if he came back and picked off a few of our players.......

Surely we'd insist on a clause in his leaving that he can't approach any of our players for 6 months (as an example) much as Reading have done with Pardew ?

Just read on the Reading message board that they expect Coppell to bring Leon Knight and Danny Cullip with him... that's nice of them :censored:

Border country.East Preston.
'doing it for the best of his family blah blah blah'-
Bollocks, he has held down a number of well paid jobs since finishing a scintillating career, he's no pauper and winning a championship with Brighton would have have got him any job in the future.

From purely a business/future security/financial aspect IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE

Good call about not approaching our players for a certain amount of time. At first I was desperate for him to stay and indeed hopefull.
However, we were relegated last year, we didnt stay up. He has a squad which has already one the 2nd Div championship so they should be in the top 4 or 5. What frustrates me is the stadium situation. Yes I understnad until we get the go ahead we will always be pissing in the wind. However, the result will be made by xmas. If this was the only stumbling bloke then surely he can wait until then. He talked about cutting his own throat if we dont get Falmer but I cant believe between nowe and the end of the season Reading will be the best job around. He waited all summer to sign another contract and is off and the first hint 11 games into the season.
I do rate Coppell but Im not impressed with the way in which things have been handled. The only man to come out of this with any cred is DK (again). He knows the number goal is not Coppell, or Zamora or even promotion but Falmer. Once he delivers this (and he will) we will move forward as a club with the right management.
Long live DK.:clap2: :clap2:

It is a pain, but if we get in someone like Dowie I'll be happy enough. A hungry young manager who's been promising so far and may actually feel that he and the club can grow together.

In the long run, it'll be Coppell's loss...

We should still thank him for what he's done though. At least he leaves us in a healthy state when the place could have fallen apart last season. Just lay off our players now please SC and I'd say you will be remembered fondly by most (right-thinking) Albion fans.

DK won't let that happen. LK has just signed a two-year contract and Cullip would never be "top dog" if he went to Reading - it'd be like someone muscling in on Queen Bee (spelling?) in Prisoner Cell Block H :p

Not sure if Booker is the right man for the job or not, but if he is ever going to get the job then now is the time. We have no chance of going down, and even with a fuckwit like Hinshelwood on charge we would still finish in the top 10. It would give Booker good experience going inot another season and he is very loyal. Like I said Im not convinced he is the right man after the Hinshelwood problems but I would rather see him take over than Dowie or Cotterill

.

Ian Dowie for a couple of years until Falmer is nearly ready. He can then go to his beloved West Am after Pardew and his three successors have been fired and we will then have managers beating on DK's door for the job.

Meanwhile, Coppell will have walked out on Reddung because of 'personal reasons' and will end up in charge of Carlisle because no other club will trust his word again.:D

To be brutal, Dowie's not going risk his rep by jumping Oldham's financially sinking ship to join another one where we're currently using paper cups to bail out the water is he?

about the "doing right by his family thing"- has Coppell got a family to look after? I didn't think there was a Mrs Coppell?

Not taking the piss, but I thought he wasn't the marrying kind...

Not quite sure, he's had a certain reputation following him around for a few years. Don't know how much truth is in it, that's why I wanted to know if anyone knew if he was married or not.

Many Palace fans always thought he was, er, a "confirmed bachelor".

Without wishing to take this thread into dodgy waters you'd have thought in that case he'd have been at home at Brighton!
