Portugal

I reckon Portugal are done for in this tournament.

Roz and I saw their COMICAL capitulation to Denmark in Lisbon, when they threw away a 2-1 lead by conceding two goals in the last three minutes of play.

They are setting themselves up nicely to finish in fourth place in their group - behind Denmark, Hungary and Sweden.

Nah, surely they'll qualify for South Africa and knock us out in the quarter-final on penalties.

Is this the general other WC qualifying games thread? In which, hats off to Wales for a fine gutsy very defensive performance against my lot. It took a brilliant goal to beat them and Wales had a chance or two to score along the way. Hitzelsperger is looking top notch as is the brilliant Lahm, at least going forward. There is perhaps a very slight chance that Germany might not thrash England in a month's time...weird.

I don't know why such results are hailed as a huge shock any more. I'm guessing most, if not all, of Albania's players are full time pros so while they may not be amazingly technically gifted, they can live with Portugal for most of the game and all the time they've got 0-0 to hang on to, they're going to fight that little bit more. I think maybe 25 years ago when teams were coming to Wembley and were packed with part timers, perhaps there was an argument that sides like England should be sticking six or seven past them but nowadays only the very weakest sides contain players who don't have any experience at somewhere near the highest level.

I guess that as long as these teams are physically able to get their bodies in the way of the ball all game then they've always got hope for a lucky draw or even a win.

Doesn't make the prospect of Portugal not qualifying any less funny, though.

Albania is good side, but our weak tema beat them on Staurday easily... Very interesting group :flameboun

It would be good to see Hungary back on the world football map, but it's quite a tough ask for them to qualify from that group. Hope they make it to South Africa, though.

We can not beat Denmark, Sweden and Portugal, so don't worry, we wont be able to qualify :D

I was in Budapest a couple of weeks ago. Will be nice when it's finished.

Is it EU money paying for all the development, Gyuribá?

Maybe we should like him for wasting 750k of Palarse
