That's about 100 supporters, which for the self-styled 'world's greatest fans' is pretty pathetic. I honestly think we would have taken more, and we're a League One team who haven't had a 20,000 crowd for nearly 20 years.

Don't feel sorry for the fans of Portsmouth? I don't feel sorry for the club, or for the prats who ran it. But the fans don't deserve the crap they've had to put up with this season, and personally I would say that Brighton fans should be more sympathetic to clubs in their position. We've been through the incredibly tough times ourselves.

My sentiments exactly

Leeds United overspent wildy when they thought they were on top of the world and nothing could possibly go wrong. Nobody seems to feel sorry for their fans do they?

Difference being Leeds fans generally come across as a bunch of dickheads and I don't think they really care either. Usually I'm a bit of a Leeds apologist but I dislike their fans as much as the next person, purely because I believe they are very much in the same bracket as Millwall fans with the 'no one likes us, we don't care' attitude. Each to their own I suppose, good luck to them I say!

Pompey certainly don't have a massive support, but they do turn out when it matters - i remember them filling the away end at Wigan a couple of years ago in a must-win end of season game, which a club like Fulham would never do. And man-for-man is there a louder crowd in the prem? Only perhaps Stoke at the moment, and they'll quieten down soon when it sinks in they'll only ever be hoof-ball also rans.

Albion's away following is unusually good because so many hate going to Withdean, that may change if Falmer starts rocking.

we officially have the loudest support in the premiership by the way. and I'm so sorry that we don't play like West Brazil (Brom), who get relegated each time they come up. we can play some good stuff at times too.

Hang on, there's far too much positivity towards Portsmouth on this thread!

The point is they are the self-acclaimed "best fans in the country" - there are at least 30 clubs in the league who would have taken far more fans to Wigan, regardless of the circumstances.

Whilst Portsmouth were enjoying the good times of the last few years, I can't remember too many Pompey fans expressing doubt about how the club could sustain such overspending on such low gates. Their wage bill was ludicrously high but the fans just stuck their heads in the sand.

That is why I'm enjoying what's happening right now.
