Should be at least 20 for doing it the second time. Wonder how Bristol City, Forrest and Doncaster feel about this as they are playing by the rules?

Weren't Portsmouth in the Premiership when the went into Admin first time round? I think it's different rules for the Premier League and the Football League.

In what way, so prem teams get Presidential treatment over the likes of us? Portsmouth should be relegated. All what will happen is they accept their 10 points punishment and carry on again at the expense of other teams who play by the rules.

Got to draw the line, demotion.

That would explain it. I was wondering why they weren't being docked a shed load of points like Luton were a few years back.

should have to start from the lowest division the following season, we spent all that time in Gillingham and Withdean but still didn't cheat, that's why Dick Knight deserves a medal, proper club management

Possibly a touch harsh but Pompey need to start living within their means.

How can a business owe over £100m go into and admin and not be wound up only to go into admin agin with £50m debt?

I wish I ran a football club.

Makes me sick, football clubs live a charmed life and it is totaly wrong.

But they are still paying their players £20,000 plus a week and when will they go into administration next?

Which is why I said they need to start living within their means but busting them down to League 2??? Perhaps not. It's disgraceful what happened to Luton should Pompey suffer a similar fate? Football certainly in the lower leagues is now getting a taster of the reccesion.

I dislike everything that the current (and recent past) Pompey administrations stand for and a significant number of their "everyone else is cheating just to put us down and it's not fair" fans can go do one as far as I'm concerned, but are Donny really playing by the rules? - their "shop window" contract deal with an agent is marginally dodgy even if it is failing miserably. I like Donny's fans but I'm not at all convinced about the club's "innovative" approach to player ownership.

I do agree though that there should be a stiffer penalty for every time a club "re-visits" administration as a way of keeping going while cheating the rest of the world out of money but the FL rules simply don't say that specifically. Until they do the abuse of serial administration will be extremely attractive to clubs whose management/ownership is either inept or crooked.

But this is the 3rd time they have been in administration and would be the second time under FL rules so why is it not 17 points?? Surely the bottom 3 should be allowed to appeal that sanction?

No-one wants to see a team go bust like Aldershot in 1992 but they owe £4m immedaite debts (HMRC + other creditors) but also owe former owner £17m etc so their debts are allegedly £47m. They cannot sustain the current level of trading but cannot sell players until August so what is going to go on?

Only serves to uphold their stupid claim that they can't field a bench! Start playing the youth team!

Agree it should be at least a 20 point deduction

You should lose your league place if you enter admin end of. That is the only way clubs will take it seriously and live within their means.

No other business can write off their debts and carry on as if nothing has happened. Why should football clubs be any different? If you can't afford your players based on your income you are in the wrong division and need to find your level.

On Meridian tonight they did mention that the penalty is not confirmed yet and said it could even go to automatic relegation - we can only dream.

That's not true at all. I was owed a couple of grand by a business that went into voluntary liquidation. It started up again at the same address, same directors but with a different name but totally wiping out its debts. A couple of years ago, restaurateur Tom Aitkens did the same thing

Portsmouth are acting within the law, it's just that the law sucks. In fact, the FL could do something about and hit them with a heavy fine - not a sanction faced by most companies wiping off their debts this way.
