Portslade 5-a-side again - discuss

Following on from last week's discussions about re-starting the weekly 5-a-side, I though it wise to start a new thread to get ideas as to availability and choice of venue / time.

Ideally the slot should be 8-9pm or 9-10pm, with I guess Tuesday being the most appropriate day (as before), but it does clash with Albion matches.

From what we discussed last week the options are:

1. Stanley Deason - only Friday night available (don't know what the surface is like)

2. Portslade - nothing outdoor available on astroturf.

3. Portslade - 9:30 - 10:30 indoor available.

4. Lancing - Outdoor available most nights (nobody has block booked yet) - tarmac tennis courts though.

5. Worthing- following available on the astroturf:

Mon 9:30 - 10:30
Wed 9:30 - 10:30
Thur 9:30 - 10:30
Fri 8:30 - 9:30

If you have a preference please post, plus if you can make it also post. It's going to be pointless trying to get this going again if people can't get to the venue at the chosen time.

oohh...5-a-side footy eh? I'm in Shoreham so anywheres easy for me if you need an extra player?
Mainly play in goal but also right back

Gary Nelson - couldn't someone give you a lift ? Does this mean that your preference would be indoors at Portslade 9:30 - 10:30..

CrabtreeBHA - We generally don't play fixed positions, everyone gets a go in goal (if only to give people a breather).

The format is usually quite flexible, we just pick teams from those who turn up.

Anyone else interested ?

Agree with GN, unless Worthing Leisure centre isn't too much of a trek off of the A27???

It's situated right next to Durrington railway station, if that helps...

From the A27 it's about 1/2 mile due south from the Durrington Hill turn-off.

Not a case of getting a lift, its more a case of Worthing is too far for me to travel, let alone people such as Morph who live in East Brighton.
I think Portslade is the only real option, outside. Im sure we can haggle with them!!

Theyre doing the tennis courts at lancing up, proper five a side pitches, or so i've heard

Interesting - although when I rang them the other day they didn't mention it. Lancing would be a reasonable compromise, as long as the surface is decent enough. Aren't those 'tennis court' type pitches a little cramped though?

Can anyone pop into Lancing Leisure Centre and see if they have updated the pitches...

Have just had a look.
There are two double courts, The lower courts are cpmpletely unusable, it looks like they've started work and just stopped for no reason.
The top courts are in good enough condition but the goals need some tlc. The two goals are very poor condition, one unable to stand up, and the other with a hole in the net.
But it still looks like the courts will be done up, it's just a matter of when.
:(

If you were to do 5 aside at lancing could i come along? 8-9 would be preffrerable

they do work. They confirmed that to me when I rang them.

Looks like the interest isn't enough to justify even trying to start this up again. Please, if you fancy playing 5-a-side with fellow Albion fans say so here, as well as comment on the possible venues.:goal:
