That is just so unfair, seems like trial by TV

Unbelievable but true.

BBC Sport - Cricket - Cricket World Cup: Ricky Ponting faces ICC charge

While I'm not Ricky's biggest fan, this is ridiculous. I'm sure the official responsible could have had a quiet word and asked him to replace the TV, but no, much better to report it to the authorities :wrong:

He's a stroppy bastard and the Aussies and the Indian cricket teams have a lot of ill-feeling. If he's going to act like a child, and if he didn't offer to replace the TV they can do what they like.

BBC Sport - Cricket - Cricket World Cup: Ponting plays down television damage

Looks like he did offer to replace the TV. According to that report action was taken after "an Indian Cricket Board report". Personally I think it's ridiculous that the domestic board are allowed to get involved, and pathetic that they chose to do so. They are clearly trying to rile him. Personally I hope that they play each other and he whacks a hundred to knock India out of the WC now, that'd teach 'em.

If what he's said is true, then it's over the top by the Indian board.

off topic but South Africa are looking pretty good a the moment

Abort, retry, fail
Ridiculous. I bet there are hundreds of incidents, annually, of something getting broken by an umbrageous batsman.

I know his batting has been poor. What is his fielding like at the moment? Perhaps he wasn't aiming for the TV.

Would not be at all surprised to see them win it. Their spinners are good enough and their top order is probably the strongest going now that Amla has come good.

The Ponting thing is a load of bollocks.

They've definetely got the best attack, and it's them or India with the best top order

S Africa have one good spinner - Tahir. Peterson is a very very very ordinary bowler, barely ever turns one and Botha does ok but is a horrendous chucker, I can't believe they aren't making an issue about this, his action is shocking. I don't reckon the Saffers have the lower middle batting to go all the way. If someone makes a big score against them (300+) they are gonna need someone coming in at 7 and 8 who can really whack it and they don't have that. They are completely obsessed with the choker thing on S African TV too, could happen again with any luck.
