I work in an office full of Pompey and Saints fans and the banter is fierce. But and there are a few hard nuts among them, they do have a respect for each other, and all the Pompey fans felt it was out of order what happened.

Simster read the post properly please

I am saying that i do not think all BHA fans would respect a minutes silence if it involved Palace, not that i would not respect it as i would and always have respected any minutes silence i have been at.

Right or wrong it is down to the individual if they want to respect it I WOULD.

Booing national anthems is disrepectful and that is what i am being when i do it i do not particulary like Argentina, Turkey or the Eire i am not looking for an excuse for doing it.

Why do I not like those countries?

A variety of reasons some personal some probably irrational but there you go i am far from perfect and i do not have time to get into those reasons here.

you are basically a football hooligan, booing a national anthem is highly provocative and can incite trouble, but that doesnt surprise me as about 50% of england fans that go to the games are racist, bigoted facists who ruin the reputation of our country wherever they go.

If Spurs fans can sit perfectly silently through a minutes' silence for an Arsenal hero (David Rocastle), it shows that even the bitterest of rivals can put aside their differences for sixty measly seconds to show some respect for a good man, and a man who loved the game.

I still can't believe Rocastle died - that was so tragic. I was an Arsenal fan when he was at his peak (I was only 12), and he was awesome & loved by the Arsenal fans. It was so sad.

Anyway, Pompey fans are absolute scum - even before this. Last season they were spitting & fighting police to get to us. Monkeys the lot of them. Personally I've never booed an anthem or made noises during a minutes silence & never would. I honestly think if Palace had had a minutes silence before the 5-0 debacle some fans would have booed. For that game all the racists, BNP & thuggish element were out - not real Albion fans, just people looking for trouble. It's a shame, but a fact. I heard loads of racist chanting at that game, and have no doubts they would have done exactly what the Pompey scum did

eiregull you call me a football hooligan (despite not knowing anything about me) because i boo a national anthem but what does that make all the Irish fans who booed the English national anthem so much that they stopped playing it at Lansdowne road because it would get so much abuse.

Are all the Irish fans at those games bigoted facists who ruin the reputaion of their country!!!!!!

f***ing idiot

Eiregull, I have had the pleasure of watching the england euro campaign and the rugby world cup in the pubs in Ireland and the anti english line by both the presenters (especially george hook for the rugby) and the viewers was saddening as you will find that most english would support Ireland if they were the only nation left in a tournament. This has swayed me from being a fairly supportive plastic paddy to being a full out of the closet brit in ireland who wears an england top at every opportunity and who will take pleasure every time Ireland lose at anything. I would, however, never boo a national anthem, whoever it is.

I think you are a tad over the top on the 50% of all england fans being racist and hooligans though, don't you think.

you havent a clue, do you rememeber that game if not ill remind you.

England fans booed the irish national anthem, sang pro loyalist songs, including derogatory songs about dead irish national heroes, then proceeded to smash up lansdowne and throw it at irish fans which included women and children. The result being that the match was abandoned after 17 minutes. Irish commentators may be anti english (history is on their side however), but the fans are nothing like as bad as ours, who cause national embarressment whever they go, and will no doubt shame our country again in portugal. I would like to follow england abroad but a significant minority (maybe not 50 %) are ruining it for everyone, and that includes those stupid enough to show no respect for anational anthem.

just read this thread for the first time.

bha4eva or whoever is writing the wank, i think the point your missing is, yes we have a fierce rivalry with palarse and yes we shout abuse at them at games, but for the decent majority of brighton supporters this is a FOOTBALL RIVALRY. we dont ACTUALLY wish them all to die, and i for one would be quite happy to sit down in the pub after the game, share a drink and some banter.

unfortanetly this is made impossible by mindless idiots like yourself.

what happened at southampton (i live here by the way) was disgraceful. football is a game, and however much we all love it, it doesnt really compare to life and death and to think that some pikeys off the paulsgrove estate couldnt keep their gobby little holes shut for 60 f***ing SECONDS is really quite sad.

eiregull funny enough they did play the British national anthem at that game but the game before they did not because of the abuse it would get.

And yes your probably right i dont have a clue!

You called me a hooligan because i have booed the Irish anthem but you will not answer if that means that all the Irish fans who abused the British anthem and sang anti English pro republican songs are hooligans also, well ?
