Border country.East Preston.
There's no point arguing on this subject because there are people who think that sport ,and in particular football is a fantastic global competitive method of asserting authority over each other in place of war.I don't particularly like the Germans (sorry for my unspirited hatred but they massacred 6 million+ people) and the best way for me to make my displeasure felt is to boo and hiss every aspect of their nation. This also applies to a lesser extent to France,Scotland,Australia and Mars.

Now apparently i'm an "asylum dwelling,twattish,law-breaking scumbag" but i feel that football releases these tensions in a controlled environment and will never agree with people who want it controlled further to the point where all competitive spirit is removed.

Just one question: why exactly is the booing of anthems so taboo with you Simster,Hannibal etc?

I hate anything to do with palace and would boo even if anyone related to the club died, they would be mad to hold a one minute silence against us if some 85 year old numpty passed away. Thats bollox what people are saying aswell i think a majority would boo if palace had a minute silence for someone we hated with a passion, like pompey did at saints. Southampton knew pompey wouldnt observe it and were therefore just trying to make them look bad which clearly worked. Not backing pompey just thought it was the wrong time to do it hence doing it again this week its pathetic.

but this exists by the efforts of both Palace fans and Brighton Fans. Would you boo and hiss if one of them died and we had a minutes silence for him/her?

I wouldn't bother. Its not worth responding to someone who is clearly brain dead. I'm sure We will get some peace and quiet when he goes off to do his evening paper round.

As far as a Palace minutes silence is concerned, well, I would like to think it would be impeccably observed, but unfortunately I think that the reality would be quite a lot of people chanting and being offensive. Very unpleasant, but unfortunately BHA attracts a wide cross section of support so it would probably happen.

As far as the REMF stuff is concerned, again it comes down the the cross section thing. I'm sure if the boot was on the other foot threre would be plenty of BHA more than happy to help with fundraising.

To sum up - there are decent blokes and girls who support BHA and CPFC, but by the same token there are others who would go out of their way to wreck any sign of mutual repect the sets of fans share.

What I don't get is how people like this get on in real life. Like most brighton fans any problems of a footballing nature Palace experience always brightens up my day. But my Brother in law is a palace fan, and I get on really well with him. A couple of guys I work with are Palace fans. They're also decent blokes, but even if I didn't like them, I'd have to show them an element of respect out of proffesionalism in my job.

When you have as much hate for every aspect of a rival team, as has been expressed on this thread, how do you get through life?????

Beats Me!!!!!!!!

It's the same kind of mindless bogotry I've encounted all over the US over skin colour.

Born out of ignorance and poor education.

Back to the topic!

I was there, it was cringeworthy. Unfortunately the Southampton fans fell in to the Pompey trap and were making even more noise than them in angry response. It was unfotunate that it had to happen at such a tense game, but I'm sure Ted Bates didn't decide to die on purpose, just for a minutes silence against Pompey!
