Used to pee me off when my mum and dad lived in Chichester and later Bognor (1978- 2001) that in all the sports shops, you could only buy Pompey shirts ..... never ever saw a Brighton shirt on sale

Do you ever see a Brighton shirt on sale in any sports shops in Brighton?

someone with a bit of imagination should try tapping into the whole swathes of Kent that is nowhere near Gillingham.

Bloody right, I'm all alone in Tenterden. I've only seen one person in the stripes since I moved here 18 years ago and that was a kid of about 10!

Boy, 10, Stoned Police after Soccer Match

By Ben Mitchell, PA News

A 10-year-old boy caught on CCTV video throwing stones at the police in violence which erupted after a football match appeared in court today charged with violent disorder.

The youngster, barely tall enough to see the district judge over the court clerk’s desk at Portsmouth Magistrates Court, admitted the offence.

The court heard that the boy, who is of the youngest age of criminal liability, took part in the violence after the derby match between Portsmouth and Southampton at Fratton Park, Portsmouth, on March 21 this year.

The court was shown CCTV video footage of the boy with other teenagers and men twice his size throwing bricks and stones at the police.

The court heard that the boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, had a lack of respect for the police and felt they deserved it.

Nicholas Hawkins, prosecuting, said: “The video footage showed a number of young men throwing missiles. Towards the front of the crowd a very small child could be seen that is this young man.

“He went to the game with a friend who is a 14-year-old girl.

“It is clear that he has a lack of respect for the police. He accepted in interview that, had his foster mother been caught up in the violence, she would have been frightened.

Even worse Chichester is the home of County Hall, for West Sussex County Council (where I go for Youth Cabinet meetings) and the Christian Church for the whole of Sussex, we should move Chichester Cathedral to Brighton.

You have have highlighted a small problem. Chichester as you point out is the home of West Sussex County Council which has nothing to do with Brighton, which is it's own regulatory body, seperate from both West and East Sussex county councils. While the cathedral is nice I find St Peters church in Brighton a far more interesting building.

The thing about Chi and Bognor is that they are closer to Portsmouth and far more accesible to these areas by public transport.

And I have just started working with 2 Pomey fans. Very nice people.

Of course there are more Pompey shirts about now they are in the Premier league. Its what you'd expect. I saw a Wolves shirt at Woodside road last season....bet that won't see the light of day again.

Help

I live near Littlehampton and pompey shirts are appearing at an alarming rate......We try to fight them off but still they keep coming.i fear that once they have the town centre then they will spread to rustington and even into East Preston.Help Mr Prescott you are only hope....................................

"If we build it, they will come".

But tis true that we are losing our fan base at an alarming rate in the margins.

I also live in sunny East Preston and we are obviously right on the edge of being Brighton-centred, as Southern FM has an alarming way of slipping into Ocean FM, depending which way your car is facing.

On match days on Angmering Station we like to lob stuff at the Pompey fans on the opposite platform.

I've even seen a Pompey shirt on a member of my own family ... although it was in a photo from the 1970's. My grandmothers stepmother (see, not really family either) is from Portsmouth, dammit......
