Agree 100%

That includes the TV licence tax. Privatise NoW!!!!!

Can't believe in this country we have to pay a tv license tax - its ridiculous....don't believe in privatisation of it though... nor alot of other tosh being spoken in this thread...

Capital Gains Tax - does little to bring together the divide between those who have money to make the next step up the estate ladder and those who don't - its market driven - which is affected by interest rate policies, set by the government as a reaction to inflation, so in effect the government is taxing people on the basis that they decide themselves.... I've disagreed with it in Australia and I'll disagree with it if they ever attempt to bring it in here - not that I can vote...

I'll also disagree with entering the euro just yet - Europe has a far more progressive tax stance than Britian will cope with right now - the effect of which will be chaos in interest rates...

I was there. As we set off on the march I turned to those with me and said 'Its going off today'.

It was THAT obvious. The feeling in the air at the start of the march was palapable, all it was going to take was one little spark and it was going. Not too willing to comment on the actual riots but I'll just say I'm glad they switched one camera to another incident at the moment they did.

I read The State were in.

It was corpratist pants. Hutton is a pro Euro nutter who is also a member of the Bilderburg group(www.spotlight.org).

We share culture and values with The US cos its are Bastard ofspring, we do not share the same culture values with europe.

Its called the Judean-Christian tradition Vs Cartisian Rationalism.

The latter leading to Hitler, Mussolini, Franco etc.

Did you vote for the European President or against?

58 years and the ****s have learnt nothing.:nono:

So, Italy and Spain in the early 20th century were influenced more by the rationalism of the Enlightenment than by the Catholic Church ?

I have to disagree fairly massively - Franco was a product of a range of reactionary forces including clerical - fascism which were attempting to hold the Spanish people in bondage. His victory in the Spanish Civil War (aided by Mussolini & Hitler) was proclaimed as a victory for christianity by the Vatican.

If you've not read it I would suggest having a look at a book called "Hitler's Pope" by John Cornwell.

Fascism and National Socialism were bothl products of capitalist countries in crisis. I fail to see what they have to do with 18th century philosophy.

His victory was mainly aided by Stalin who told the Socialists to fight the POAM(Anarchists). ref Orwell. Homage to Catalonia.

Reactionry? Isn't all politics reactionry?

On the subject of anarchism, does everyone know that Kropotkin lived in Brighton from 1912 to 1917?

He returned to Russia after the October revolution (which he supported - even though he opposed bolshevism).

Crazy mixed up kid - a bit like looney.

Yeah but what did we get in return apart from our bins being empty once a week.:lolol: :lolol: :lolol:
A lot more than that, if I remember correctly.

Hove residents got a borough council that gave planning permission for the only league football stadium within miles to be turned into a retail park.

I think the thinking behind this was that people would be happy as long as they can go shopping on a Saturday afternoon.

POUM were a Spanish Socialist/ Communist party with strong links to trokskiest ideas. Though they had pretty good views on respecting partnership and the different ideas on running a Spanish republic.

Stalin and his henchmen basically took over the small Spanish Comunist Party, gave it resources, fed all arms through it and basically blackmailed the Spanish Republic leaders.

When it was ready Stalin attacked the POUM, the CNT (the Anarchist Party), and other republican groups, this was probably the biggest international disgrace Stalin ever undertook. Even before this, the International Brigades , the POUM and CNT always got the worst deployments and suffered huge casulty rates.

Today old Loon I have started to warm to you but not too much. Unless of course you were hanging out with one of the Fascist Bridgades,
