Used to go Twezeldown, on the edge of Fleet in Hampshire when I was working out that way a while back. Free to get in, and better facilities than Plumpton. Proper betting'n'bookies'n'bars, Loads of landed gentry, fat old farmers and fit young things in jodpurs with chinless-wonder boyfriends. Bets wise, the form usually worked out pretty well, and the odd old legendary racehorse would sometimes make an appearance. Saw Hello Dandy race there once.

It's a good afternoon out, and should be done if you get the chance IMHO.

Its at Parham (just west of Storrington) this Sat. First race is at 12 and there are ten races. I am a bookmaker there so have your bets with Swan Racing (Albion friendly bookmaker).

Is that Albion friendly in the sense you give better odds to Brighton fans?

Hopeful, how would someone get on setting themselves up as a bookie on the rails and just copying everyone else's odds without knowing anything at all about the quality of the horses. I've always wondered if it would be possible.

I think you'll find a lot of them already operate like that - with a little adjustment when one horse becomes a big loser for them in a particular race.

I can imagine that the bookie world is a pretty close-knit one, and anyone just standing there copying and effectively making money off the others wouldn't be that popular.

Or maybe they all just copy their odds out of the racing post anyway :)

You always see guys on radios telling their mate what other bookies are doing, but i presume that that's not simply copying, but making sure that no-one else has had a tip or has had someone lay an enormous bet on a particular horse.

There are no prices in the Racing Post for Point to Points. It is more a matter of opinion. Sometimes we try not to take a bet on some horses and the odds fluctuate depending on how much mony there is for a horse.
