Do not underestimate the gratefulness and support from Argyle to Brighton fans. It is as strong as ever since fansunited.
You had to be at the fansfest to be able to realise it. At least 300 fans packed in with a comedian, songs and a compare all shouting seagulls to two brighton fans was humbling, there was only one place i would have rather been yesterday and that was the AMEX.

Was down there yesterday - drove down for the game (family's from the area so been down a few times this season) and the reaction me and my brother (Brighton boys in argyle shirts) and the other two brighton fans got was awesome. Seagulls chants at the fanfest was pretty cool!

Game was scrappy, argyle have a good ground game so dagenham kept it in the air. There's a small minority of idiot fans like all clubs have but most of the 7408 in attendance (home park looked packed except the away end) were top notch proper fans and I heard lots of pro Brighton comments especially during the left side right side chant!

Also Tuesday week we're away at Wimbledon - would be great to get some Albion fans up for this!

Is there serious support to this? I do think a charity element to it would make it much more worthwhile. Help for Heroes, children's charities, etc. Nothing on the BHA NSC that I can see.

Without wanting to put a downer on it, I will say though, is there really that groundswell of support from both clubs, or is it just a few 100 BHA fans. How many of the 19000 at their games, actually are bothered whether there is a closer unity between the two clubs?

My thoughts were.............

I don't think you're putting a downer on it, just asking a reasonable question. The answer I suspect is somewhere in between 100 and 19,000 (a response which, if I say so myself, claims the 2012 'no sh1t sherlock' prize for stating the bleedin' obvious).

It's more than a 100 fans thing, the 'go green' event at the Amex showed what we already knew from the response to us at the Withdean game last season. There's widespread warmth towards us and complete sympathy with our plight.

Where I think things might outstrip that sympathy and warmth is if it's felt the connection is being forced on them. No-one minds being liked by another club, it doesn't happen often. Enough is made of rivaliries but the opposite sentiments never get a mention. But a two legged friendly?, EVERY season?, I suspect that might be too much to ask. Maybe one a season, maybe one two legged trophy.

From their POV, whilst they've never forgotten our support during the Goldstone saga, as a club their sights are on the premier league. Friendlies for them, early PSF warm up games aside maybe, should be at an appropriate standard. It's like us being tied to a regular game with Torquay each year when we were in the championship - what would we get out of it?.

I love the idea, don't get me wrong, but the pitch should be as a one off 'thank you' or 'twinning' thing...........if it develops organically into an annual event then sobeit, but that's for both parties to be comfortable with. We wouldn't want to be considered their 'stalkers' now would we

Your thoughts seem to suggest the same, nice idea but in practice, not so much.....................now the rant, targetted at one individual only and made in the full knowledge that he's a minority.

So, my home town is a "rat hole" is it?.

Listen fella everywhere has it's good and it's bad. Heck i've been to Whitehawk and Moulscombe and the rats were the clean and tidy inhabitants. You do indeed have a nice new stadium but your memory is short, we've been polite and understanding houseguests whilst enduring the 'delights' of the Withdean for many years so don't walk round with yer nose in the air after five minutes of posh.

If Plymouth is not for you then fine. But please don't label rotten an entire 250,000 population City with a footnote in history stretching back considerably further and with considerably more distinction than the mere placement of a royal beach hut a couple of hundred years ago. And while my sleeves are rolled up we didn't ask to have our population killed and city centre obliterated by the Luftwaffe either. It was the very importance of the City that brought them here, there's a reason not much bomb damage occurred in Brighton.

X Isle, i am sorry if you feel that you have been dealt a dis-service on this forum, there are always one or two that have to go over the top.

I am loving your idea, i was one of the few that came down to Plymouth for both fans reunited days, and to be honest we had a ball. I also believe we saw you beat accrington stanley.

I would love to see you come up to the Amex, so we could all watch a game of football and have a drink. Let's hope that the two clubs could chat about this and arrange a PSF.

all the best!!!

Excellent post and as slinky said "there are always one or two that go over the top". I have very fond memories of Plymouth as a child, holidays etc and as a 14yr old experienced my first ever live gig 'Roy Wood and Wizard' followed by Nazareth, I think at the pavilions. The response from the Brighton fans to the idea of a friendly has been a positive one, but how do we progress this suggestion? Do we begin by writing to the club's? What are your thoughts? Looking forward to the next home game and will be bringing my Daughter (first match she will have been to in 4yrs)

Plymouth fans should contact James Brent and ask him to contact our board. I think it should be at the Amex, so that their fans can see the phoenix that arose from our ashes. I went to one of their fansfests and was impressed with the welcome they gave us.
